I want an mp3 player with tactical buttons and no touch screen. I don't need Bluetooth or a camera on it it just needs to hold a shit ton of music. Any recommendations??

OK so I'm thinking about the amount of stuff I've been seeing over the last few months about people wanting to unplug, to lock out & to be chronically offline. I've also seen some stuff about Gen Z & Millenials forgetting how to spell without predictive text helping them. After 2030, schools in my country aren't planning on teaching kids to write on paper, they'll only be expected to type. All of this is honestly horrific to me.
So I was wondering... would anyone actually want to see some lessons about how to unplug, and how to use analog objects for stuff we usually rely on our phones & tablets for? Would anyone like lessons on handwriting & manual spelling?
When I was at school, we had at least 4 handwriting lessons every week. We had to write everything by hand- math, English, French, Gaelic (our native language); we had to write essays & stories by hand. We were writing on paper & we also had our own whiteboards to write on. The teacher wrote everything on the vertical whiteboard & on the blackboard, and we were also taught how to write on them as neatly as we did in our jotters. We started learning cursive at 8 years old.
I'm now 26, I love using my calligraphy pen, and I'm writing 2 of my books entirely by hand before I'll transcribe them onto my laptop. I love making the stuff in my bullet journal look as aesthetic as possible. I love the smells of inks & books. I love manual photography & I like how cute compact cameras & polaroids are.
So the idea that these things are being whitled away is heartbreaking to me, and I know I'm not the only one feeling that way.
Would you pay to learn how to be chronically offline & happy?
No
Maybe, but only a small amount
Uhh depends on the platform / format
Yeah, I think so
Probably, but only if there were free samples first
Yes
SHUT UP & TAKE MY MONEY
Reblog for a wider sample rate <3
im actually getting so sick of "smart" technology
it's at the point where im using a calender, sticky notes, and i would also be using a notebook if i knew where my blank ones were. like we just got a dedicated blueray player and oh my GOD is it lovely
i want dumb shit. dumb tv, dumb speakers, dumb mics, dumb phones, make everything dumb. all this smart stuff is killing my brain cells
AI glasses are so dumb to me. Like, you mean I have to focus my eyes within 1 inch or 1/2 inch of my face? Are you stupid? Glasses are hard enough to wear because you have to retrain your eye to focus through the lens (hence, nasty headaches every time you get a new perscription) and that's without adding an interface full of flashing lights to it. There's no way I'm going to put a computer face that close to my face. The only people who'd think this is a good idea are people with perfect vision who've never had a migraine.
The next previously-was-dumb-now-inexplicably-is-“smart” device that asks me for a login in order to use it is getting its firmware flashed with linux.
Don’t test me, Sonos Sound Bar. I body horror tech as a hobby. You’ve been hardwired into my TV for two years. Act like it before I turn you into an eReader. >:(
Im trying to remove myself completely from my phone. Ive already limited my app use on a regular basis, but im gonna say bye bye to social media during my academic hours. Its kinda cold turkey.
I have so many form of entertainment that could distract me during the day that aren't my phone, and id like to invest time in those. Hopefully it will make me more creative and mentally present as well. I think i spent 7 hours on youtube today. I wasnt even watching the video, I just wanted background noise. I could play audio books in that time, which is much more interesting.
I have been complaining about apps and smartphones and other modern tech being addictive and making me feel like my brain is sludge for too long but now I am actually going to do something about it god damn it
I dumbed down my phone as much as possible (I want s dumb phone but that may not be possible for me so heavy restrictions are my current solution) and I am looking at getting other devices that will replace my phone so I lessen using it
The good bit is my budget is feasible and the bad bit is my paycheque sucks
Every big tech company at some point is like "AR glasses are absolutely the move" and tbh I don't know anyone who was asking for that.
