In the course of a single 21 minute episode, Rebels does the following in dealing with the loss of Kanan:
1) Shows how all the remaining members of the Ghost crew find out about the death.
2) Hera decides to memorialize Kanan with the kalikori, explicitly stating that this will be a memorial for him and why this method of doing so is so meaningful to her.
3) Thrawn reveals that Kanan's death resulted in the TIE Defender project being imperilled.
4) Sabine and Zeb independently discover that the TIE Defender factory is shut down due to damages it sustained when the fuel depot blew up. Sabine spells it out and explicitly gives credit to Kanan: "Kanan didn't just save us. He completed the mission."
5) Hera has a moment to talk more to Chopper about Kanan as an individual and what he meant to her.
6) Ezra finds a way forward by heeding the wolves and accepting the new mission given to him - and the team joins him, with Hera specifically saying in the opening scene of the next episode that they're doing it "For Kanan."
7) This carries over into following episodes, but Ezra is often shown to be relying on Kanan's teachings and example as he moves forward.
And all of these are just a few of the reasons why I name Rebels as one of the peak examples of a major character death/sacrifice done right.
(...If only some other shows had taken notes *cough Bad Batch cough*)
