It was late, of course, the young redhead would give him that. But it was never the wrong hour to visit the pier. Never a wrong time to watch the waves crash below you, and watch the ships come and go like, well, ships in the night. And besides, when better to watch the waters than the night? With the stars twinkling, and the moon reflecting off of the current. There was no better time than night to do anything, Daisy thought. Sometimes she was upset that humans weren`t nocturnal.
After a moment or so, Daisy realised that she had registered his question but never answered it. She had an awful habit of doing that. Of either talking too much, or not at all, and of being a complete scatterbrain. Brushing her flaming red locks behind her shoulders, Daisy smiled at the man, a wide toothy smile, and hoped she wasn`t in trouble.
“I suppose I don`t have a reason,” she spoke, hands smoothing down her skirt and dusting off any dirt the night may have caused, “bar the fact that it`s just so lovely at night. Is that what brings youto the pier at this hour, too?”
“Fair enough” With a chuckle, the Commodore gave the young woman a bit of a smile. “ Yes.. I suppose so. I find a nightly stroll, listening to the waves crashing against the shore and the clear moon above is quite soothing after a long days work. “
He approached her, bowing politely before taking her hand and placed a kiss upon the back of it in a gentlemanly manner. “ I suppose introductions are in order. I am Commodore James Norrington, of his Majesty’s royal fleet. A pleasure to make your acquaintance , Miss.”
He let her hand go now, waiting for her to introduce herself in return. Though if she didn’t he’d nudge her in that direction by drawing out the ‘miss’ as if a question. She was a lovely young woman, just a bit odd. He didn’t mind, really. It was nice to have company sometimes on these walks, but it was rare he enjoyed company in most aspects of his life.
