Hiya Duncney stans, hope yall reading this are having a pleasant day. I’m currently working on some genderbend DxC fanart so gimme some headcanons for inspiration please if you got some in your noggins.

I was stalking the TD wiki again since it’s difficult to view the show here (as far as I know the original still hasn’t aired since I was in middle school and Total Dramarama is on when I’m normally busy with work or going to bed) and had a look at the newer episodes of Dramarama. I know they’re not gonna do anything with Duncney since they’re toddlers in the spinoff but I still think it’s adorable that they get to have cute moments like this where they clearly care abut each other rather than having them fight all the time.

I really love Duncney but hate most Duncney shippers and how some of them decide to write the two characters it just makes me uncomfortable

Honestly, it's impossible for me not to want the ship "Duncney" to return in these new seasons of Total Drama. I really want Fresh TV to give them another chance, as that couple didn't deserve to go bankrupt.

I hope to enjoy iconic moments that made us love them.

TDA AU but Courtney doesn’t fall into the green jelly, stays on the diving board heading for the dock, and in the craziness of trying to avoid getting slammed into the “sled”, Trent gets shoved away by a panicking Lindsay and Beth.

Courtney gets to compete again, Trent’s on the sidelines, which bums him and Gwen out at first, but he does look at it as maybe being a good thing - especially with their budding relationship.

This would mean that quite a few things happen or could happen

Gwen loses her Alien Chunks necklace since she was too far from the grate when she finally spots it.

She or Duncan would have found the eggs - much to Courtney’s displeasure aside with the fact that she’s covered in slime, which is a runnier version of the object of her phobia - and even if Gwen also got slimed than I could see Chris choosing Gwen as the other leader since she was the second closest to winning and another equally strong player since she knows the genre so well.

Courtney doing her best to deal with the fact that she’s not the leader...and not handling it well.

You put Courtney on either team and things could play out interesting depending on the scenario

Trent using those muffin sneaking skills to somehow sneak Gwen a gift - it’s not the necklace, but hopefully a good placeholder for now.

Courtney either being on the opposing team or on the same team as Duncan, but not the leader could lead to a confrontation and possibly the first big hurdle between the two.

Trent sneaking on and off the set *cue Pink Panther theme song* to spend time with Gwen. How he does this? That’s a secret 😉 Chris eventually finds out, tries to keep Trent out cuz he’s distracting from the drama, but that’s one determined Musician in love.

Leshawna, Beth, and Lindsay teasing and wanting details from Gwen about how things are going with her Music Man.

Harold acknowledging Trent’s “Girl Whispering” skills and carefully documenting like a National Graphic study in hopes of truly unlocking and mastering his own “Girl Whispering” skills to win over Leshawna.

Justin sensing an opportunity when he sees that things seem bumpy between Duncan and Courtney.

Duncan being very conflicted cuz it’s Princess, but it’s also Princess...

Aftermath having a segment of Trent outfoxing all of Chris’s Trent-Be-Gone tactics - it’s equal parts Looney Tunes, Ferris Bueller, and Mission Impossible - hilarious and impressive.

Duncan getting less kiwi hits from Courtney

for those of you saying you don't like courtney, that's completely ok. that is YOUR OPINION. as a courtney lover i will for a fact, agree that her character was majorly derailed. but, you have got to understand what she has been through and why her personality was going downhill.

1) she got unfairly booted off island by harold. and this may not seem as bad as it is, but think about it. right when she was learning how to live, letting her walls down a little, (her and duncan just stole food from chef and chris), and finding a love interest, she was booted off due to some stupid pranks that DUNCAN had thrown on HAROLD. her being dragged into the fight was totally unethical.

some of us can agree that island courtney was presumably decent --- she wasn't as snobby as she was in the later seasons, so what made her so b*tchy and backstabbing in action to her contestants and former friends? in season 1 she played by the rules, but she realized that that is not how you win! contestants such as heather have made it towards the final 3, and heather was the farthest from “playing by the rules.”

so, naturally, that's what courtney attempted. she tried to play the game as per the winner mind. some may call this attitude "queen-like" and others may call it "insufferable." 

she tried SO HARD to win in tda. she did WHATEVER it took, just to be kicked out when she was in the final three due to her love interest, whom she actually trusted???

2) i think we can all understand that total drama is NOT for friendship. if heather is illustrated to be a "queen," then what makes courtney different? selective morality is not acceptable here, people! it’s quite easy to point fingers. if you’re gonna do so, you’d need to be calling out more people than just courtney. when people attack courtney, they never seem to mention others, which is blatant hypocrisy. 

3) also, most of you may be thinking "but she abused duncan!" & "she used him" & "her relationship with him was toxic!"

YES. as a hardcore duncney shipper i agree!! it was toxic but it takes two to construct a relationship! courtney did not bind duncan to chains, nor did she threaten/blackmail him had he wanted to break up with her. the most she would do is throw a lengthy tantrum, yes, but none of this stopped duncan from simply breaking up, or at least having a conversation about it? courtney’s fear of the lack of control she had in her relationship was not dealt with healthily, and maybe a simple conversation would’ve went a long way. but did he care to acknowledge her sentiments? or set boundaries for himself and speak up about the mistreatment he was enduring? 

i get that abuse from courtney's side is absolutely NOT justified, but just remember, it was hard for her to build trusting relationships from duncan’s profile. man was constantly eyeing heather, breaking the rules, etc. his personality and way of living heavily contrasted hers, and it was just hard for her to purely trust ANYONE, let alone a bad boy who was her polar opposite.

duncan is a brave boy, correct? then why didn’t he ever speak up for himself? courtney may have cheated the competition, but duncan cheated her and himself by not breaking up with her sooner than later. he resorted to deceit and made up excuses in his mind. frankly, this just depicts cowardice. man was afraid to be face to face with his feelings and that costed him a girl’s character and heart. no one deserves to have their feelings stepped on, and courtney genuinely believed the relationship was taking a positive direction until he cheated. 

I WILL ALWAYS, ALWAYS, have empathy for courtney no matter how conniving someone tries to paint her to be. she had absolutely no one throughout the 4 seasons she participated in except limited interactions with bridgette, and then of course... duncan. has anyone ever questioned the lore behind her hard-headed personality, why she tries so hard to win, to be noticed, to be loved??

when world tour arrives, despite all the fights with duncan, etc. she decides to get back with him. we can question how healthy of a decision that was on her part, but to this day i still cannot dissect the reason for duncan to cheat? he knew it would hurt courtney very deeply, so why did he do it? wouldn't a simple breakup suffice?

in the beginning of tdwt, courtney had no one except duncan. naturally, as their relationship was quite old now, she began to trust him, y’know, kind of... let loose with him. she was finally accepting duncan for who he is, actually hmm...CHANGING. (remember her accepting his mohawk lol) but of course, being the bastard he is, left her in EPISODE ONE.

so, she started coping without him by befriending gwen and spending time with her. this was like the 2nd genuine friendship she had since island.

when courtney and gwen finally found duncan, courtney felt like the happiest person in the world just to have TWO, not one...TWO companions, but guess what? they both cheated on her, TOGETHER!!

that’s fucking low, and i can tell you confidently that even courtney wouldn’t resort to that shit, even if she was promised to gain a million bucks out of it on paper. 

and what fucking annoys me is how both duncan and gwen can’t take accountability for their own damn actions LMFAO. she’s honestly the queen of painting herself as a victim, and she keeps on using that shitty excuse that they weren’t together, but they WERE AT THE TIME. that hug the night he was found? ring a bell? i know gwen saw that shit because of the yucky expression she makes afterwards!

and even if they weren’t together although they WERE… a girl’s code of conduct --- never go for a girl’s ex/man! yes, courtney may have seduced justin once upon a time to win a challenge and earn money, but i can assure you that gwen and duncan hadn’t made a single penny pulling this little stunt of theirs. 

gwen KNEW it would hurt courtney. duncan absolutely KNEW that it would break her heart, which is why it makes that UNACCEPTABLE to this day, considering how close they were to her. so much so that it got someone like heather consoling the TRUE victim. 

and then there goes down the drain the work that she did to better herself and build trusting relationships. she became that girl again, & from here on out her character went down... FAST.

& hold up! let’s just come to an understanding here. gwuncan just isn’t...ideal. gwen fell for him because of similar interests and looks.

why duncan fell for her, don’t get me started. 1 - he used her as a coping mechanism from courtney, and she obviously wasn’t enough and couldn’t fill the void. i hope that goth was worth it because duncan ultimately got his karma in all stars and so did gwen.

*duncan referring to courtney* “ahh i love that woman.”

*exact same duncan referring to gwen. “see this is why i like you.”

like? love? difference people. :)

what sucks is that people are so fuckin quick to victimize gwen just because her aesthetic gives her brownie points. fresh tv fucking ruined their own show because gwuncan had so much potential as a brotp, and duncney was such a refresher but of course, we’re fools to have expected anything from the td franchise.
