Of the six adventurers, none knew what the day would have in store for them. Shermarr believed he would just be another crusader in the parade. As a member of the long-standing Eagle Watch, it was his duty to be a part of the festivities of Armasse. As he looked out unto the audience he saw two figures who stood out amongst them. One a teifling (Darling), a race that he knew all too well to normally be on the side of the Crusader's demonic adversaries. The other was a drow (Aelith). Not many drow made their way to the the lands above their subterranean cities, less to one on the border of the Worldwound. But Shermarr did not stare at them for long, for he himself knew the feeling of being judged based on his appearance. Surrounded by his fellow paladins, he was reminded that catfolk are all but a common sight to be seen in Kenabras.
Three onlookers did not stand out from the rest of the crowds as the aforementioned. Amid the abundance of healers was a particular half-elf (Annie). This “healer” was more of a con artist passing herself off as a Cleric of Shelen. Collecting gold and keeping it for herself as she performed minor healing magic that she learned by watching the true Clerics. Walking amongst the people drawing zero attention was what appeared to be a normal human. His skin made of artificial materials designed to mimic human flesh, this android (Unnamed) filled with rage blended perfectly into the crowd. Our last person of interest is an elf (Reneriah), who just so happens to have been in custody at the time of the events that would bring these six unknowing adventures together.
The audicene grew silent as Lord Hulrun himself took the stage. And just as he began to speak a bright light shown from the west, and a brilliant plume of fire rose into the heavens where the wardstone stood. Terendelev, Kenabres’s greatest guardian and ancient silver dragon, who had until that moment been attending the opening ceremony disguised as a human rushed to defend the wardstone from what was next to come. Khorramzadeh, the Storm King of the Worldwound, appeared to finish what he started years ago and destroy the wardstone of Kenabres. The ground began to shake and demons flooded in through the crevasses forming within the walled city. The fight between the balor and dragon were over in a few harrowing moments as Khorramzadeh stuck Trendelev with his sword, and they both came crashing down.
Our six adventures were not spared from the chaos spilling into the streets. As they were making their escape from Clydwell Plaza, the dragon and balor landed just shy of them causing another tear in the earth’s crust. As the six fell down into the darkness below Terendelev used her last breath to cast a slow fall spell on them, hoping to save those who she could before the end. And with those words uttered, Khorramzadeh took the head off of the dragon and sealed the crack in the earth, leaving those below to perish.
As the dust settled down below, the six brushed themselves off and took in the darkness around them. Trapped down here with them are three others Terendelev saved, Anivea, Aravashnial, and Horgus. While our adventurers survived the fall relatively unscathed Anivea fractured her leg and Aravashnial was blinded from a strike across the face. After briefly introducing themselves to each other they decided it would be best if they work together to find a way out of this cavern. The adventurers made it not but 15 feet before finding a giant spider carcass, housing three giant maggots. These vermin were quickly struck down by the party. In this first encounter, the circuitry in the android's arms and hands became bright red as he ripped one maggot in two. Soon after, the adventurers stumbled across two giant cockroaches and made quick work of them too. Hiding in the dark, 30 feet away, would be the party’s biggest challenge so far.
A cave viper lurked in the dark, ready and hungry for something to eat. It was not used to all the noise these foreigners from the surface were causing. When the adventurers found this snake it was coiled up ready to strike. After a swing and a miss from Shermarr, the viper lunged out and sunk its poisonous fangs into Shermarr’s flesh. As the pain settled in he could feel the poison rushing through his veins. Darling began to sing a tune which inspired the rest of the party allowing Annie, the pretend cleric, to sink her dagger into the snake. With the blade pressed firmly against the ground, the party removed the head from the snake's body to ensure the kill.
The adventurers traveled roughly 25 minutes before they would come to an opening in the path which led into a cave filled with a soft but nasty-looking green light. On the entrance to the cave was an upside down Warhammer which darling quickly recognized as the symbol of Torag. Discussing their options the party eventually decided to make their way into this cave in hopes to find some information from the deity of the Dwarves. As the made their way deeper into this path they discovered a bunkerlike structure with no windows and walls of stone blocks. It was in rough shape, but not as bad as the collapsed buildings to its sides. As they made their way closer, they encountered a giant fly crawling on the wall of the building. This fly was a group effort but was finally brought to rest by the Drow. And with that, we leave our adventurer’s in these ruins until next time.
