chronically ill/disabled? he's straight to Mac and Mitchell Lynn to figure out good workouts and diets to keep symptoms down

avoids conflict (will still do his own stuff anyways after letting others say their peace) but gets ANGRY when it comes to you

feels terrible the first time he gets that angry bc he hates yelling (he feels like his dad) pls reassure him it's ok bc he was defending you

after that he is your guard dog, is extra sensitive to anything negative about you that isn't something that's a matter of miscommunication (like oh x hurt my feelings saying this, oh I'm sure they didn't mean to let me talk to them)

going on a trip/trying something new (or if you're disabled - wanting to try pushing yourself for an event or outing)? he is ALL for it, but secretly has backup bag prepared just in case

loves if you're just as fit, but kinda loves more if he's the fitter one. he likes guiding someone along and also being their knight in shining armor if they need his help

loves carrying partner, no matter the size

will try to encourage you to sit on his back during pushups

post realize loves volunteering for Little League (on top of teaching highschool sports) because he loves the joy kids have before it gets competitive

you WILL have to fight other parents off with a stick, he is a single parent MAGNET due to being naturally good with kids bc of his cheery and encouraging nature

and his good smile

will get into an argument with one of the sports parents at least once (too competitive, reminds him of his dad)

will bite his tongue for a while and send extra encouragement that kids way, but snaps if he ever sees a kid crying after an encounter - whether it be to their own kid after a loss or gloating to a different one after a win

loves watching sports, is okay if you don't

sings in the shower but BADLY

This is an awesome question, Nonny ~ thank you so much for asking! Growing up in the orphanage, Dunk didn't have access to the most up-to-date games (or dvd's, for that matter). Kids there had to make do with old, donated game systems & games, several years past their prime popularity. But that never bothered him; when he got the chance to play, he was 100% committed and focused on the game and always advanced quickly. Dunk was blessed with quick reflexes, and despite the size of his hands (even as a young lad), pretty remarkable dexterity.

I don't believe you could call him obsessed, so much as driven. Driven to achieve the next goal, the next level, to save the princess, to save humanity. He never plays violent games for violence sake. I'm gonna say that among his favorites are anything in the Legend of Zelda series, Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect, any sort of Knight-themed/DnD-ish RPG games. Sport games of anything he'd played in school, like Rugby and Football (European). And Mario Kart, of course! 😉🥰

Movies, now. Again, limited access meant he was years behind the popular curve in his formative years, but today, we'd call his faves nostalgic. His number one Hero, Luke Skywalker (hey, I dreamed it, so it must be true!), but especially in the first Star Wars movie. Dunk swears by the original trilogy, likes or tolerates the others. He'd be a fan of Indiana Jones, too (again, remember this is a question of what was available for home viewing to kids in his situation). Also, The Lord of the Rings movies, with a special fondness for Rohan, its Horses, and its People & Lore (though not so much The Hobbit films because by then he was old enough to understand the making-such-movies-for-profit-factor kind've bastardizing Story). You know, good movies with values close to his heart, where Good triumphs over Evil, where true friendship makes all the difference, where Justice is served even at the highest cost. So, some Marvel movies, too (Captain America, Spider-man, and Shang Chi with Katy) far fewer DC (Wonder Woman above all the others; in fact, his current girlfriend [me, that's ME, if you're wondering] will gladly dress up as Diana of Themyscira for his Steve Trevor 😳😁), but not the entire franchises.

And given the right group of friends, Dunk would be thrilled to attend Comic Con any chance he could. Cosplay, you ask. Again, only among his besties--and in something that keeps his face covered. It's easier to step out of his comfort zone, even in fun, if strangers can't see his face. Oh, that sweet, beautiful face! 😍😍

The BEST hugs. Always. has a magic 6th sense for knowing the perfect amount of pressure you need and how long you need to be held

boy is WARM. not a furnace like some other characters, haha but is always toasty

that being said, if you put something cold on his skin when he doesn't expect it (a cold drink or cold fingers) he WILL shriek

Once Shelley gets some therapy, he actually really enjoys hanging out with her! it was always the toxic positivity that put him on edge, he appreciates that she loves working out and sports just for the love of it like him

if you're chronically ill/fatigued/disabled? SO on board to help modify things so you don't get excluded and knows when to take a rest

offers to set up some sort of wheelchair basketball session for Mac so they can join a friendly court sesh, but Mac politely refuses

is much more observant than he seems; you have to be so you can see the signs that your sports buddy is pushing themselves too hard

I see him having siblings tbh, I can't remember if it's canon or not tho

hasn't talked to them in a few years, with the whole fallout with his dad and everything. thinks they won't want to talk to him but misses them a lot

^they do they miss him terribly but he needs a push to reach out

avoids the rest of the house for the most part; he doesn't have the best relationship with the other objects in the workout room so it makes him a little nervous and hesitant to go and meet some of the others

once he does though? OH BOY he is pumped

him and the Hanks get into trouble together. often.

He just gets so wrapped up in their energy that he doesn't realize what he's doing until the wingsuit is strapped on

Hank #2 is just glad for another voice of reason and safety

helps Mateo with the inanimals a lot! after Davi is found and he hears that the tassle hound was in the closet, he keeps a better eye out for any inanimals to bring back home, just in case

he also just loves animals, especially dogs

loves playing with them and helping them get out their energy and Mateo is glad for the help

not a big coffee drinker bc he gets antsy and shakey, but loves going and talking to Kopi anyways!

is a casual affection type of person if you let him - he's super aware of boundaries (have to be as a trainer) but if you're cool with it, he's all for just casually having an arm around a friend's shoulder or leaning on someone

I am so awash in Dunk warm fuzzies right now, I cannot help myself...

Modern AU Dunk (aka Nerd!Dunk) is a PE teacher for kids right around Egg's age. He is, in fact, most of his students' favorite teacher. Everyone passes, and if you can't climb that rope, Mr. Dunk finds an alternate 'test' of your abilities that leaves you feeling you've accomplished exactly what all your classmates have. A lot of the girls develop their first crushes on him; they may not be able to put that kinda goofy but very nice feeling into words, but the horse girls, for example, give their mums their crayon drawings to hang on the fridge--and the mums have to ask who the giant man next to the horse in the picture is. The young lass will reply in a tone of voice as though the answer is obvious, 'That's Mr. Dunk', before skipping off to play Barbie with her friends. There's one girl that has named Barbie's white horse Sweetfoot, and her Ken (whom she has decided doesn't Beach, but Horses) takes the most excellent care of that beautiful horsie.
