We Shall Go On to the End

This took me a while. Lots of procrastination, and lots of fighting with myself to not put it down until I was done. This was also a personal piece. This film has been more to me and has done more for me than I could ever deserve. Also, this was an attempt to practice my coloring and digital painting. 

I’ve a long way to go, but I am getting there.

Happy anniversary to Dunkirk

I can’t believe it’s been an entire year since Dunkirk came out. It might sound silly, but the movie changed my life in so many ways. I have met some of the most wonderful people through the Dunkirk fandom and was even introduced to things that I might not have known about without it. I will never forget sitting in the movie theater (sobbing) and just knowing I was having a different sort of movie experience than I’d ever had before. One that was far more impactful than I was used to. I will forever be grateful for the movie and the joy it has brought me. I honestly can’t believe it’s been an entire year.

Bullies Not Welcomed!

This is an anon message the wonderful Lauren at @disneydirectioner received regarding her Jack Lowden Vampire AU that she has spent time and effort writing. And all I can say to this is ‘What the Fuck?’ This is bullying and I will not stand for it.

So to whoever sent this to her I have a few words for you:

First of, how dare you? It takes a lot of courage to put your work out there for others to read, courage I doubt you have. So don’t criticize or hate on someone who has shared a little piece of themselves and something they love and worked hard on.

Second, I have some news for you, 90% of the time fanfiction is not written for you, it’s written for the author and they are just sharing it with you and their followers. Fan fiction is an escape from the real world and meant to create joy and pleasure for the one writing it, if others find the same from reading it great, but remember that it was created in the writers mind, by them and in the end for them.

Third, you don’t like it? Don’t fucking read it! It’s that easy. I myself don’t really like Vampire stuff or AUs, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go around sending anons to people to stop writing them. I hate to burst your little narcissistic bubble, but you are not the only person in the world and there are other people in it who enjoy that stuff. So get over yourself. Also, if you don’t like it but enjoy Lauren’s writing (because let’s be honest it’s amazing) send her a request for a blurb that isn’t Vampire, I promise she’s super nice and won’t bite at all.

And lastly, I hope you find happiness because you obviously need to.

I’m just going to add one more thing to this, one of the things I have always loved and adored about the Jack/Dunkirk fandom is that there is no bullying in it, we all love and support each other 100%. So if you are new to the fandom take note and know that none of us, and I mean not one single person will tolerate this or any bullying at all.

Tommy: twin (In Hebrew, Tom is used as a unisex name, meaning ‘innocence, naivety, simplicity’ or ‘the end’). 

Fool Upright (beginnings, freedom, innocence, orginiality, adventure, idealism)

Justice Upright (justice, karma, consequence, accountability, law, truth, honest, integrety, cause & affect) 

This is my second (have one more to go) of my pieces for the art prompt: name meanings. It is late and won’t be in the ‘master list,’ but I still wished to complete it. In this, I looked at Tommy’s character in Nolan’s Dunkirk and saw him as a very innocent person who, in his own way, attempted to be fair and just, especially to Gibson. I chose both Fool Upright and Justice Upright for this. I also found it very interesting that Nolan chose to end the film on Tommy’s face, as if he is a representative in some way. Rather than a double edged sword (which meant impartialty), we see the same rifle that Tommy uses in Dunkirk (if my source is correct). The flowers above are Freesias, which represent friendship, trust, and innocence. They are meant to hold the scale of balance. As for Tommy and the skeleton, I did them in similar poses to represent the ‘twin’ name meaning, but also as the skeleton representing ‘the end’ name meaning for Tom.

Dunkirk Appreciation Week - Day 4 - Favorite Scenes

Dunkirk Characters- England Vs Columbia

So the setting of this scene is a typical British pub with England bunting and England chants playing on the jukebox.

England Scores 1-0

Peter + Collins + Alex- jump up screaming spilling beer everywhere

George- Joins in but not as loud cause he’s not sure what’s really going on as he’s not really paying full attention to the game

Gibson- sits back casually knowing that France is already through

Farrier + Shivering Solider + Mr.Dawson- playing cards at the back of the room

Tommy- looks up from his newspaper

Columbia Scores 1-1

Peter- “shittttt” whispered under his breath

Collins- “OH FUCKTARDS” (yelling)

Alex- “Oh for Fuckk sakeeeeeeeeeeee!”

George- “oh no”

Farrier- shaking his head at Collins reaction because Collins is taking it too seriously

Mr.Dawson + Shivering Solider- look at Farrier waiting for his turn

Tommy- sips his coffee

Gibson- yells in French for them to shut up

George- has gave up watching the game and turned to Mr. Dawson

Farrier- Moves to sit with Collins cause he’s a good bf

Mr. Dawson + Shivering Soldier- now talking about how nice the English weather has been recently.

Tommy- moves and sits with the other boys now actually wanting to watch the game as it got interesting.
