Send ☮ for a headcanon about our muses’ friendship

While there is a great deal spoken about their time at Hogwarts and sharing a dorm room, and about what happens in the present, however, we haven’t spoken much yet about the time in between, just after their graduation when both were finding their place in a Death Eater created government. 

It would take some weeks after graduation to see each other again, Bennett with the pack each day and out, training at night to become something of a killer, the infamy of the pack one that was formed quickly. When they would see each other again, Bennett wouldn’t only be Bennett, but working to be something else, the killer he thought would make him a hero, which was only harder in the beginning. 

When he does see Severus again, there is a pause, the world held in silence as Severus and Amelia are hard beyond the world Bennett finds himself in, in his mind. Them alone, has always been a place of safety, the only friends who knew he was a werewolf when he still believed he was alone and still something of a monster, Severus was there through all of those years, helped him out by their workings with wolfsbane. To see him again after working to be only the wolf and not the man, would be an internally emotional moment, one that he would try to suppress and feel anyway, though with that he is unable to truly pinpoint how he felt. It would be gratitude, a relief, and this has never changed each time he would see Severus again. 

Everything good still in Bennett can be saved for when he sees Severus, all he has left saved for him and Amelia as they aren’t connected to a war in his mind, no need to prove heroics or ground away at his belief in miracles or that one shouldn’t walk to any destination, but run. Bennett is glad to hear any snark or any action, even if what Sev says is meant to be insulting, Bennett will find a way to subconsciously cherish it as there are few things left that are from his time before graduation, his family one he can’t speak to any longer.

Bennett would start an actual war if Severus was threatened and Sev could be the worst human being ever and Bennett will still be here for it - he’s also horrible, so it works out. My trash sons

Marlene was never active in her dislike of Severus at school. She may have privately agreed with most of the things the Marauders said about him and yes, she almost certainly laughed at jokes that he was the butt of. Her friendship with Lily, though, stopped her being more active in her dislike of Severus. She may have been vocal about it, especially to Lily, but she would never have hurt her friend by going out of her way to hurt Severus. That plan was, however, promptly thrown out of the window the day that Severus called Lily a mudblood. With her penchant for picking fights with any blood purist in her path, it was a small miracle that she held off as long as she did, but when Severus threatened to camp outside the Common Room until Lily spoke to him, Marlene snapped. It was the next day that it happened, a chance encounter left her with bruised knuckles and him with a broken nose. She has yet to apologise and is adamant she never will.

Solstice: Do you prefer time with friends or time alone?

“Friends. My real friends, that is. The less time I have to spend with the Death Eaters the better. But I’m not in the way of having many real friends right now, so alone would probably be the better answer.”

Sun Spots: What makes you feel bad about yourself?

“Taking off my top at the end of the day and looking down to see a black mark on my arm.”

Zenith: What makes you feel good about yourself?

“I have a photo album from my time at school. Looking through that makes me feel better. It makes me hold on to that girl a little bit harder.”

Black Hole: Has there ever been a point where you thought nothing would get better?

“When Dumbledore died. I felt so helpless. I hadn’t graduated, I didn’t think there would be an auror force to join, at least not one I could live with myself being a part of. I didn’t know if my mum would be safe. I didn’t know if my friends would be. I was so scared.”
