Studio|11/02/17: After the success of the first spiral drawing I decided to apply the same shape to a larger scale.
I first determined the length of the paper by getting the average of all of Ireland’s monthly CPI (consumer price index) inflation rates since 1997. This number was converted into a distance of 2.2 meters. Then a mid-point was found on the page and the numbers were written around this point.
The CPIs were written on a loop in a spiral. At the end of each loop the chain is broken and the time it took to write that cycle is noted on the drawing.
As the spiral gets bigger the time it takes to complete a cycle gets shorter as there is less movement around the drawing.
