Durham County Library events with Congressman John Lewis

The Durham County Library has put together a stellar program of events, called Durham Reads Together, in honor of Congressman John Lewis.  Congressman Lewis has recently published a memoir entitled, March.  The Library is encouraging people to read the book and then join in the discussion and events with Congressman Lewis.  As we look back on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 the Library programs challenge as to look forward.  These promise to be great events.  Thanks to the Durham County Library for being leaders in the community.  

Saturday, October 4, 9-10:30,  Durham Marches Together, march from the Main Library to the new Civil Rights Mural to celebrate the kickoff of Durham Reads Together.  FREE

Saturday, October 4, 2:30-5:00, MARCH: Book One, B.N.Duke Auditorium at NCCU, Join Congressman Lewis and his co-writer Andrew Aydin for a reading and discussion of his memoir.  FREE

Saturday, October 4, 7:30-9:00, Dessert Reception with Congressman Lewis, Hill House, 900 S. Duke Street, Meet Congressman Lewis at this fundraising event benefiting Durham Library Foundation, $75.00 per person, durhamlibraryfoundation.org to reserve your space

Sunday, October 5, 3-4:30, Durham Remembers Together, Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street, join the Congressman and NPR's Frank Stasio for a discussion of the March on Washington and the Civil Rights Movement, FREE but limited seating
