That is a ultrarare SPECIAL Durian! I found this on under a tree in a backyard, close to our homestay in RANAU, Borneo (close to 4096m Mt Kinabalu) This is not a normal Durian, this is something special, it seems to me much like a hybride between "Durio Graveolens x Durio Kinabaluensis" As you might know from a previous post, Durian Tapulo (Durio Kinabaluensis) is very very rare. To find a Kinabaluensis - Dalit hybride is something very very very very rare, actually it is just that there are a couple of these trees at all, if at all. There is no such Durian to be ever reported! I'm no botanist, so i can't say it to 100%,but i know what the 2 Durians smells, feels and tastes like, and this one was just perfectly inbetween, it has that very unique Kinabaluensis smell and taste, but it is also a Dalit in Consistency, taste and smell... 💚 DURIO KINABALUENSIS 💚 - One of the rarest of all Durians. It's an endemic specimen of Durio, only to be found in a region around one mountain, ⛰️ MOUNT KINABALU (therefore the name "Kinabaluensis"). The local name for it is TAPULO. We were very lucky to find these wonderful Durians at the amazing "Pasar Sajur", the vegetable and Durian market (and fruits like Tarap, Cempedak, Eggfruit,...) in RANAU. Ranau is relatively close to the Mountain, and one of only few places where you can get these Durian at all! And they were cheap! - only about 7 Ringgit per Kilo!! 🤗😁 The taste is very uniqe, hard to compare and describe. Lindsay aka #durianwriter describes it as a cherry-rum cake aroma, i can agree with that partly, but only if they are not perfectly fresh. Then they get quiet alcoholic in taste and even some locals like it for that, but once you got very fresh same day or next day Durians, then there is no "rum" taste to it, it's very creamy then and sweet. The taste and smell is unique and once had, you will never forget it. 👍☺️
