And I love Max Thieroit as Dylan, the half brother, I’ve adored him for years since he was like preteen actor and so glad to see him do a role like this Bates Motel where he gets to play out all these different range
YES his dynamic with norma is super interesting -- he's distant enough to be able to see how manipulative and controlling she can be but at the same time a part of him looks at her and desperately wishes that she cared about him half as much as she cares about norman
the scene where she revealed who his father is during season 2 was so good. the look of shock and horror and dawning understanding of why his entire life has been the way it has was heartbreaking

Bates Motel is how prequel or origin stories should be done, it’s just wonderful and completely mesmerizing
YES there are a few subplots here and there which are a bit 'meh' but the overarching plot of how norman bates went from being a deeply mentally troubled young man to the person he is in psycho is amazing and vera and freddie's acting is superb -- especially whenever they have any sort of big emotional scene together
You make a very valid point there. I did see the articles on the potential casting choices as well recently and I realize a couple of the potential young Scott choices were in other things, but don't have the popularity yet. Then again right now it's all rumors, so you never know what will happen. Thanks for your great reply though and I figured i would post it on here for the anon who wanted opinions in the first place.
