Meet Ghzgous Tresrach, the dust elemental!
I’ve long been fascinated by the Planescape setting and its concept of the Inner Planes, that of Elemental Planes of Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and the Positive and Negative Energy Planes. The Planes can interact with each other where they create Para and Quasi-Elemental Planes.
Where the Elemental Planes touch, you get Para-Elemental Planes like Ooze (Earth+Water) and Smoke (Fire+Air). Where the Elemental Planes intersect with the Energy Planes, you get Quasi-Elemental Planes like Mineral (Earth+Positive) and Salt (Water+Negative).
The Quasi-Elemental Plane of Dust being the intersection between the Elemental Plane of Earth and the Negative Energy Plane, dust elementals are like earth elementals that are always seeming to slowly disintegrate (but never actually falling apart).
Their proximity to the Negative Energy Plane means that they are almost uniformly hateful of all life and their Earth nature makes them largely unchanging and unyielding. There are exceptions however, and Ghzgouos is one.
A Dust Elemental formed of dark obsidian stone, has an unusual trait for his kind, a burning curiosity. Rather than preying on beings who enter Dust like his brethren, he actually observes them, occasionally aids them, and in one case, consorts with them.
He came to the rescue of a kugorian explorer who had fallen afoul of the dangers of the plane. After spending some time together, they formed a pact that would allow the kugorian to summon Ghgzouos to other planes, and eventually formed a deeper relationship.(Kugorians are a fantasy race I adopted from artist https://twitter.com/DarkViperBara. More about them later!).
The huge gem he wears was stolen from the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Mineral (intersection between the Elemental Plane of Earth and the Positive Energy Plane). It was taken on one of his first forays off his home plane with his kugorian friend and a prominent Earth Djinn is now after them for it.
