camille has vivid memories of adam's scent - the nights they'd spend together, it used to be a welcome distraction from the heaviness of their souls. rich, like a maze of different trails she could never quite pinpoint - books (the ancient, dusty kind) & something cold like a forest, & then that sweetness - like fruit that's so ripe it's just a second away from rotting. it could be the most delicate of pleasures or it could nauseate her, how sweet it was. either way, impossible to get rid of.

what do you think my muse smells like ?

                “ you’d be insane if you weren’t . ” i said after a long silence . my voice was low and my throat was coarse , and the only smile i could manage was thin-lipped and tired . but i embraced robin tightly , arms wrapping around her side , pulling her as close as i possibly can , pulling her together , until not a space was between us . we could both be a pain in each other’s asses , that’s an indisputable truth . but it’s a bigger pain when one of us is in a vulnerable state , like i’m breaking just as much as her .

                “ well , i mean , more insane than you already are . which is a terrifying thought , really . ” my smile turned into a chuckle then , but my hug remained as tight , before i nuzzled my head against her playfully .  “ drinks ? i know where father thomas is hiding his whiskey . ”

                 he was laughing . he was genuinely laughing as they twirled around the room , letting the music drown them in it’s world . he held her close , this mysterious and magical woman , who seemed to know how to unravel him the most beautiful ways . how much has he drank tonight ? the bottle that he’s holding , half empty and lukewarm , will it be his last for the night ? for a moment , it doesn’t matter . there are rare moments that he felt this kind of true euphoria , and those are moments that he would love to hold on to . hold on to for as long as he possibly can .

               “ you make me happy . i don’t know how , but you make me so fucking happy . ” he spoke through child-like giggles , pulling her closer as their foreheads touch . he swayed her around again , as the music continues on . “ i don't remember the next step . ”
