Well, guess from now on, if I ever buy beer from @frugalmacdoogal in Nashvlle again, I'll check the f---ing best by dates on everything. Should have noticed, but that's what I get for being in a rush. I guess MacdoogL really is "frugal"... I cellar a lot of beer, and taste many things well after the suggested date on the bottle. I just like it to be my choice. Well played A-holes... Visited my boy Kabooby and he had some delectable bottles set aside for us to split. First up was @stonebrewing Double Bastard in the Rye from 2015. It was their Double Bastard Strong Ale which had been aged in whisky barrels. I loved the color! It was a deep mahagony. There was a little alcohol burn which gave way to tastes of whisky and vanilla. It had a spicy finish. It was really good! Next was Siren Craft Brew Maiden Barleywine from 2014. There were tastes of malt and caramel with a subtle grapefruit finish. It was great! The last brew was @risingtidebeer Hesperus. It was a blend of barleywine and strong ale then aged in oak barrels.
