Some of Russ Ellis’ photos from Dutch Corner on Alpe d’Huez at this year’s Tour de France. You can check out more photos over on Orange Zest on Exposure.
Despite everything, the climb of Alpe d’Huez continues to be one of the most magical events in all of sports. We’ve all heard the sounds from the motos as they pass through each of the corners/hairpins, but we’ve NEVER heard them like this. Hopefully, we can rein in the Cro-Magnon idiots who can’t control themselves otherwise we’ll lose the ability to get this close to the action altogether. I’ve watched this several times already and get chills every time.
Adam disclocated his shoulder, but he tweeted, that the eats pain for breakfast! He’ll get painkillers if he gets to Alpe d’Huez, so cheering for you Adam!

Nothing else in sport compares the spectacle of a mountain stage in the Tour de France—*especially* on Alpe d'Huez. And no other section of a mountain stage in Le Tour compares to the "Dutch Corner". The beauty, majesty and madness of bike racing summed up in this moment as Tejay Van Garderen attempts to take the Double Alpe stage today. Even though his bid was painfully unsuccessful (passed in the final 2k) it was an amazing experience to cheer/yell at the TV for one of the (dope-free) American young guns.
