Your Fave Is Catholic: Kathleen Madigan

Known for: Stand-up comedian & television personality. She initially started her career as a journalist, but while that was taking place she also found great success doing open mic nights at local comedy clubs & coffee shops in the St. Louis area. Soon afterwards, she became a contestant on the hit television series Last Comic Standing, & since then she’s found great success in her stand-up comedy career & continued finding success on other television shows such as I Love The 90s: Part Deux, I Love The 80s 3-D, Celebrity Poker Showdown, Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil, & Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. She also got her own HBO comedy special titled “One Night Stand”, has DVD’s of her own comedy specials such as In Other Words, Gone Madigan, Madigan Again, & Bothering Jesus. She also has several comedy albums, & is also the host of her own radio program titled Blue Collar Comedy. She also dated fellow comedian Lewis Black for a time, & even though things didn’t work out for them, they still remain very close friends.

Evidence of Faith: According to a St. Louis Magazine interview with Kathleen, it is directly stated & confirmed that she grew up in a large Irish Catholic family, & that growing up she attended Catholic schools. Of course, the biggest pieces of evidence comes in the form of Kathleen’s own comedy. Many of her stand-up routines involves jokes about her Catholic upbringing & her own Catholic faith, with one notable example being her story about visiting the Deep South & getting into a disagreement with local Christians about whether or not Catholicism is part of Christianity or not. (Just for the record, YES, Catholicism IS part of Christianity, no matter what some fundamentalist Christians might say.)
