Tolkien's dwarves were master craftsmen, artisans, creators, and had magic of their own, and yet somehow fantasy as a genre ended up with this stereotype of dull, ugly, boneheaded, hyper-aggressive drunkards with no real culture or civilization beyond swinging axes and swilling beer and I just don't get it.
