hi hey hello i just wanted to drop over here and scream cry in your inbox about your writing in re-education. you have a way of expressing this immense pain and the mentality of trauma in your writing that really shows behind the curtain. making this thing people think is light and happy make me feel physically sick and have to take multiple breaks while reading.
the complexity of these relationships that you weaved and the strained and sometimes sickening dynamics between these characters is so hard to do well, but you did it so well and made something that really meant a lot.
i honestly am at a loss for any other words to say other than just you made something incredible and i’m now crying too heavy to type without checking for errors so THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CREATIONS WITH THE WORLD GOODBYE
I’ve been keeping ur message in my inbox for a while just bc it meant so much to me and I needed to keep it there to keep coming back to it every so often and savoring it like. THANK YOU. I obviously did not experience any sort of frat hazing myself, but having had my own long history w trauma it really means a lot to hear that you thought the mentality and pain of it shone through in the writing. I’m sure there’s things that came out in the writing that I don’t even realize, but a big one for me was portraying the way it basically puts blinkers on you, how your life ends up revolving around it even when it keeps moving forward and when you finally stop and take a look, it almost seems like you’ve been left behind.
The relationships between them was also something that actually took a lot of thought (and long conversations way past my bedtime with @duquesademiel trying to hash things out) so I’m happy that you found them as rich as I hoped they would be <3
Again, thank you so much for your message, I can’t tell you how much it means!!
