DWJD: Be a World Changer

How can you change the world?

What does it take to make a difference?

John 14:12-18

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

And I will do whatever you ask in mu name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.

You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

“If you love me, you will obey what I command.

And i will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever –

the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.

But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

   Have you heard or seen the initials WWJD? These are the initials that were plastered on everything in Christian circles a few years ago. It reminded us to consider “What Would Jesus Do?”  with every decision we made. However, it is not enough to consider how Jesus would respond when we are faced with decisions. We must consider what he would do and then take action to follow His example.

   We could update WWDJ  to be DWJD – “Do What Jesus Did”.  This is completely different statement that challenges us to take a look at Jesus’ actions and respond by also doing “the work” he did, that we could change the world by doing greater things.

John 14: 12 - I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.

He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Three points 

1.  Be obedient

“If you love me, you will obey what I command.” –John 14:15

2.  Be anointed

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth. – John 14:16-17

3.  Be committed

But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. – John 14:17b

DWJD - Do What Jesus Did!!!

Jesus’ example

-          Great Commission

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. – Matthew 28:19-20

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13
