A strange looking stick that laid upon the dusty terrain suddenly caught the child’s attention as he wondered around looking for his dad. He curiously turned his head from side-to-side, looking for the owner of the strange object before bending his small body over to pick it up in order to get a better look. What was it? How did it work? He had to know.

The baby cooed as he inspected the way the light glinted off of the object and then he waved it around as if it were a wand, but nothing happened. How disappointing it was! Canting his head towards the side he noticed a button, one the child couldn’t help but to push! How could he resist? It had to do something! A strange noise suddenly came from the object and his ears perked up with sudden interest! That’s when he heard footsteps coming his way.

Victoria nearly squeaked with delight. Oh they were positively adorable! They were bright red and looked like they were made of a very soft flannel material, perfect for the chilly weather of winter. But most importantly, there were adorable little green and blue penguins all over the trousers. And the button up top had a little red penguin peaking out of chest pocket with a little winter hat upon it’s head.

“Oh Doctor, they’re absolutely lovely! Thank you!” She held the pyjama set close to her chest, yes it would fit quite nicely. “Did you get a pair for Jamie too?”

“This is the voice of the Mysterons, we know that you can hear us, Earth men, we have spent much time retaliating against you and your people for you unprompted attack on us, you may have succeded many times, however, we also have won out share of battles, and now, we intended to end this conflict, with the aid of a race familiar with your world...”

The deep voice would be followed by a familiar voice, one known to some.

“Humans of Earth! You will submit to us! You will submit the our combined efforts of The Mysterons AND THE DALEKS!”

Long after this transmission was sent to Earth, Spectrum was on high alert and had at times, engaged with the combined Dalek/Mysteron threat, with Spectrum being part-formed as a merge of past organisations, such as UNIT, SHADO, and Torchwood, there were files Spectrum could use with The Daleks, mainly the type of weaponry to use and what weakspots each model of Dalek had.

Yet no matter how many Daleks they encounter, with the Mysterons abilities to recreate matter, weaponry had to be modified to include features of weapons that helped deal with humanoid Mysterons, yet it was still a losing battle.

With the air considered a risk, Cloudbase was grounded at a field in England where they could hide themselves from the Dalek/Mysteron forces, however, the intruder alerts still sounded, and taking the leader, Paul Metcalfe, the man known as Captain Scarlet, would lead a group of fellow captains to where this security breach had occurred, and it was there, they saw the blue police box, yet still not risking it, Paul and fellow Captains, Blue, Ochre, Grey, and Magenta, took cover and waited for something to happen.

Patience managed to keep her voice steady, confident, but not demanding as she made her request, not letting on that she was, in all honesty, a little anxious that he might say no. There had once been a time when the idea that he would turn her away wouldn’t have even crossed her mind, but that was a long time ago and she could already tell that a lot had happened for both of them since then. And if she was being honest, if he did turn her away, she hadn’t a clue what her next step was. She had left Gallifrey without a plan and neither a way nor the desire to return any time this century and at the time, that had felt fine, but now the universe felt larger and more daunting every moment she was alone in it.
