I have no chill when I come across a good song, or an emerging artist that’s exciting and intriguing. Los Angeles’ Dylan Emmet certainly roused those feelings in me when he blessed us with his indie pop on his single, No Chill. The singer songwriter and producer drops a heartfelt and endearing follow up to his recent collaboration with Leonell Cassio, Lie 2 U, which was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday in Sweden, as well as his latest single Memory, which reached #5 on Hype Machine’s Popular Chart. After finding out he had a two year old daughter he never knew about, Dylan began releasing a string of gut wrenching songs documenting his journey, beginning with leaving Los Angeles to become an insta-dad in New York overnight. Currently living with his daughter back in upstate New York, Dylan has continued to successfully write and produce for multiple artists on both coasts by utilizing video chat and taking occasional month long trips to LA to write. No Chill is described as an energetic, slightly left of center pop jam. Dylan blends a mixture of indie-electronic and alternative pop, with a 90’s throwback feel, complementing Dylan’s unassuming sarcastic swagger.
Dylan explains the inspiration behind the track: “Writing No Chill, I wanted to capture that fun, exciting, and scared to death feeling you get in the beginning of a new relationship. The feeling when you are really into someone but are trying to play it cool because you don’t want to show all of your cards. In my experience, it never works. In the end you will eventually have that conversation, cracking up about how nervous you both were when you first met. I wrote ‘No Chill' with my friend Constance and like all of my songs, I produced it myself.…” A free download of No Chill is available, here.
