Allen Weisselberg, President Trump’s longtime financial gatekeeper, was granted immunity by federal prosecutors for providing information about Michael Cohen in the criminal investigation into hush-money payments.
On Tuesday--right after Paul Manafort was convicted of multiple federal crimes--Michael Cohen entered into a plea deal. Cohen confirmed under oath that Donald Trump directed him to make payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal during the 2016 campaign to keep them quiet about their affairs. But Trump’s headaches were just beginning.
David Pecker is a longtime friend and ally of Donald Trump. He is also the chair of American Media Inc., which publishes The National Enquirer. Pecker has repeatedly used The Enquirer to praise Trump and attack his rivals. So it must have been a bit of a shock yesterday when Pecker and Dylan Howard, AMI’s chief content officer, both struck deals for immunity in exchange for telling prosecutors what they know about Trump’s involvement in Cohen’s payments.
Today, prosecutors also granted immunity to Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization’s long-time Chief Financial Officer, in exchange for more information about Cohen’s payments. For decades Weisselberg has overseen the Trump Organization’s finances, been involved in the Trump Foundation, and managed Trump’s private trust. Now it seems Weisselberg was also “Executive-1″ in Cohen’s plea agreement, who “instruct[ed] an unidentified Trump Organization employee to reimburse Cohen for hush-money payments to one of two women who claimed they had extramarital affairs with Trump.”
I must say, the number of current and former Trump associates who’ve turned out to be secret allies of President Obama, Hillary Clinton, the “fake news” media, and the Deep State conspiracy, and who are all willing to lie under oath and make up this terrible stuff about poor, beleaguered, totally innocent Donald Trump, is positively staggering.
