“…Come pick me up.” The static died down as the communication was abruptly cut short.
“Is she always this assertive?” Aria drawled, smirking slightly in amusement. She waved Rook’s comment aside and beckoned for her to take the driver’s seat, relaxing in the back, arms crossed.
Nyreen Kandros. She was still young by the matriarch’s standards, but she did have a fire about her that… intrigued Aria. A former soldier and Cabalist… Or so Rook had told her, with a glowing review that made the turian a prime candidate for one of her personal bodyguards.
/It will be easy to earn her trust,/ Aria thought as the car slowed to a stop near Nyreen.
“Get in,” she commanded, scooting over to give space to both the turian and her captive: a jittery salarian who shot them frightened looks.
“I know you,” she muttered, eyeing the salarian coolly. “What’s an Eclipse member doing, meddling with /my/ affairs?”
“I’m not part of—”
“I’ll deal with you later,” Aria interrupted, knowing it would only make the salarian more agitated. Ignoring the salarian’s outraged cry, she reached instead for Nyreen’s chin, tugging her gently so that their eyes met. “You’re a fine specimen. And I’ve seen you use biotics before.” She smiled as she gave her an appraising look. “Would you like to learn more, Nyreen Kandros? I could help you. Far more than those incompetent Cabalists ever could.”

The salarian had given up on struggling and was instead working all his panicked charm to bargain for Nyreen’s mercy. And she was only too happy to see the approaching car from Afterlife.
“You signed up for this when you went against Aria,” Nyreen said, rolling her eyes annoyedly at the incessant pleading as she opened the passenger’s side door. “Just make your life worth keeping before Aria.”
She froze briefly at the unexpected sight of Aria inside the car, but quickly recovered and slid into the backseat beside her.
Nyreen kept her eyes forward, maintaining a confident expression, knowing the asari must be pleased with the capture of the salarian. But when Aria’s fingers brushed along her mandibles with a featherlight softness, she felt as if she was drawn by the irresistible pull of a star, turning submissively to face the Queen.
Aria’s ocean blue eyes were captivating as an air of command radiated from her as easily as her casual tone and appraising look. And Nyreen wanted that. Her fierceness, her way of bending people to her will, and her demeanor that let her wield power as if it was vested in her by royal blood.
And behind all of that was a breathtakingly beautiful asari.
“Of course, Aria T’Loak,” she said, finding it difficult to say no to both Aria’s attractive offer and to Aria /herself/. “I can only imagine how much I may learn from one so skilled in biotics such as you.”
