I can’t remember if I’ve heard Alaya before in the series, or if I’ve just heard in mentioned in the parts of the fandom I’ve seen.

I mean, I know what Alaya is, it’s the world. Pretty sure it’s what Shirou made the deal with to become Archer.

Oh, okay I looked it up. So Alaya is a buddhist term for the soul of the world? So it’s not something that Fate completely made up, at the very least, the concept for the soul of the world is taken from Buddhism.
