Dystopian AU I
The Clinic
Summary: Over the past few decades, mental illnesses have skyrocketed in teenagers, leading to a national epidemic and panic. Consequences became deadly as more and more teens are overdosing on pills and committing suicide. It reached its peak in 2XXX when 1 out of every 5 teenagers had a severe mental illness and seemed to have a 60% survival rate. Surprisingly, this epidemic seemed to only affect teenagers (minors within the age frame of 13-18) as adult mental illness and suicide rates remained normal. As the federal government raced to find the cause for this sudden spike, it implemented a temporary program to “fix” students who showed signs of mental illness: The Clinic. Within a small suburban town, a group of students known as The Resistance struggle through their final years of high school, trying to avoid the “Healers” and remaining as normal as possible. But it’s starting to get harder and harder to hide their problems, and soon enough, the Healers will come.
After all, it was easier to survive as a group…
And even easier to die as one.
These AUs that I’ve created are all based around my real life group of friends. I actually thought of these a few months prior and now putting them on here cuz...why not? Unlikely I will start this AU in the near future. I much prefer responding to writing prompts haha.
