A Sunrise to Remember! A wind sweeps through, lightly touching your heart when in Bagan, Myanmar...
Want to experience a sunrise or a sunset like never before? Bagan is a place in Myanmar that will make you fall in love with it! Historically speaking, it is an archeological site dating back to the 11th century, where 2,000 and above Buddhist pagodaś have survived time. The former capital of the Pagan Kingdom is today split into old and new Bagan.
Bagan is becoming rapidly famed among travelers for the phenomenal mist-wrapped view over the luscious forest plains of these ancient temples. You can either witness the breath-taking sunrise from the ground or from higher-grounds (hot air balloon rides).
The best way however, is to go for a per-day hire of a super cheap E-bike and get lost wandering in this magical place. These bikes are available all over Bagan. In old Bagan the price starts at 3.26 USD (5,000 kyats). Its best if you stay close to the temple zone to avoid long trips to/from the site because the speed of the bike may not go abvove 20 km/h.
As for the hot air balloons, Oriental Balloning offer services at 399$/person. Their services stretch from October-April. But, they fill up pretty fast. It sure is unique to fly over the misty plains on these balloons, watching the changing hues of the sky as the sun rises but, even from the grounds you won´t feel like youǘe missed out one bit.
There was another way of seeing the sunrise from above the ground but from 2018, climbing the temples here have been restricted for the safety and preservation of the same and also due to the earthquakes.
Don´t be heartbroke! Youŕe not leaving Myanmar without this mesmerizing experience. Bagan has a few artificial mounds that offer good views, two of which are located near the Pwar Saw village and Sulamani Pagoda respectively. If youŕe lucky, you may find local boys who lead you to accessible pagodas. They commonly offer help in finding perfect viewpoints in return of showing their crafts and painting.
