It was eating him up. Even if Blues didn’t want to talk to him, he had to say something.
Reaper Man had always been the type of robot who would rather settle disputes as soon as possible instead of letting it build and get worse. He was quickly learning though, that his friend had a completely opposite reaction to conflict. Even so, the grim couldn’t let this continue. He gave Blues his space, and he took the time to think about the argument and his new situation.
By this point, he’d been standing outside of Blues’ room for a while, practicing the speech in his head over and over. Reaper wanted to mend things after all, not make them worse—so he had to be sure to get all of his inflections right, his words in the right order.
Anxious and nervous, he finally knocked on the door.
“.....Blues? Are you in there?”
He already knew Blues was. Cutman had told him the shaded robot hadn’t left his room since their argument. He was positive even now, Blues was inside, shutting himself away. But as Reaper expected, there was no response. He knocked one more time to be polite (and make sure he was awake), calling his name again. After more silence, Reaper took a breath and began;
“I understand if you do not wish to speak to me, or even see me. But I cannot in good judgment, let things continue as they are. So if you could at least...hear me out. That is all I will ask.”
A pause. Another nervous breath. Then, he spoke again.
“It was not my intention to frighten you, or put you on the spot. I have always been sensitive to things dealing with Shel—....Shaska.”
He still wasn’t used to saying it. But it was her wish, so Reaper was doing his best to correct himself.
“I’ve...always seen her as a sort of daughter to me. Not that I have ever been brave enough to admit that to her. I want her safe, and happy, and...healthy. I know you want that too. Our methods just...clashed, momentarily.
I also know it wasn’t your intention to upset me. I should not have lost my temper. In the moment, I was...shocked, and confused, suddenly seeing you here. The past week has been, heavy on my processor. Seeing Wily bots returning, now good, Light Bots walking...seeing, my brother and sister, alive. Shaska. ALIVE. It was....too much, in the moment.....”
He leaned his head against the door, and sighed.
“I’m not making excuses for myself. I acted irrationally and emotionally, and it was immature. I just, felt I needed to explain myself since this conversation is mostly one way. But truly, genuinely...I am sorry. For upsetting and frightening you. It was never my intention...but it happened, and I regret what it has become. I hope that...once we see one another again, we can go back to working together as before. I...would be very pained, if this silly feud cost me a good friend.”
Reaper lingered there, listening for any sign that Blues was listening, or moving to open the door. He wanted to see him again....but, he knew better than to push it.
“....I am going to keep myself busy helping Shaska tonight. I hope to see you soon.”
Forcing himself to push away from the door, Reaper strode away to find something to do to keep himself busy. Hopefully...Blues would come around soon.
