Passat B8 and Golf GTE and to be launched in 2015
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10, 2014 –
The new Volkswagen Passat and Golf GTE are expected to be launched in Malaysia next year.
The Passat or better known as B8, is expected to be locally assembled in Pekan late next year at the earliest.
The company is also considering launching it first as a CBU before the locally assembled versions begin.
The vehicle, together with the Gold GTE and e-Up!, premiered in Malaysia at the Volkswagen Das Event 2014 last night. The Passat premiers for the first time in Asia.
The Passat encompasses cutting-edge innovation, connectivity, efficiency and safety, and is a testament that it always a step ahead. The new Passat is revitalised with a new design, a new engine and new technologies – offering a new array of driver assistance, infotainment and comfort systems that makes individual mobility safer, more sustainable and more interconnected.
The Golf GTE is also expected to make its way to Malaysia in 2015.
A fusion of sportiness and sustainability, the Golf GTE possesses the exceptional performance inherited from the Golf GTI and has the zero emission option with the E-mode.
The Golf GTE does not require any extra infrastructure for charging. The car can be fully charged in under 6 hours at any conventional socket, which is as simple as charging your mobile phone.
With fuel consumption of only 1.5 litre per 100 km and a range of 939km in hybrid mode, the Golf GTE delivers a maximum speed of 222km/h and manages a 0 to 100km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds.
“We are planning on introducing the Golf GTE to Malaysia hopefully in 2015!” said Volkswagen Group Greater China/ASEAN Commercial Operations president Weiming Soh during the event last night.
Besides these two, Volkswagen also showcased the e-Up! This car boasts 3 zero indicators – zero emissions, zero fuel consumption and zero noise. The brand’s most advanced electric car provides a strong torque figure of 210Nm and offers continued cruise of up to 157km.
