"you're looking at me like you don't believe me and i've barely spoken, manon." all she had said was she was doing alright with the adjustment, and that wasn't necessarily a lie. everything was simply fine. it could be infinitely better, but she did not want to set the witch on a warpath because she was upset. "the city is just so different from what i'm used to, i'm a little drained, that's all." not inherently a lie, but not the whole truth either, which was better than nothing, right?

elide's arms were crossed, face set in a frown as she saw the witch, knowing there was no reason that lorcan would lie about what happened.. but she wanted to hear it from manon herself too. that didn't mean she wasn't already upset over her friend's choice to 'solve' this. it made perfect sense for manon, and yet elide was still shocked to know she followed through. "do you wish to just tell me what happened or should i just start in on you?"

"you're here--" elide feels a wave of relief seeing her queen, her friend, here in the city as well. though, part of her starts to worry a bit over who is left behind if aelin is here too.. did the entire court just up and move to this strange city? "you have no idea how good it is to see a familiar face, i thought it was just manon and i." well, lorcan too, but considering whatever magic has taken over his mind.. she wasn't entirely sure they were really here or not.. did aelin know about it yet? maybe she would have some insight that she didn't feel ready to ask manon for.

"are you still under the impression that we've never met?" elide wasn't sure how to approach this version of lorcan, how to pretend that everything that's happened between them simply never happened... the magic in this city didn't make any sense, how it could just steal the memories of people with no rhyme or reason..

"lorcan!" she has to stop short, despite running to catch up with him as soon as she spotted him from across the street. as elide moved closer and closer to him, there was less and less recognition in his face. she would have assumed he would at least be somewhat happy to see her! but instead they stared down at her as if she was nothing more than a stranger. "why are you looking at me like that? we're separated for a few days and what? i cannot control this whole time traveling nightmare?"

they knew sarah was going to have questions when the crash came, as ellie stood there holding their fist, trying to open and close their hand as they attempted to find some kind of relief from the throbbing pain that came, the hole the size of their first staring back at them. "i'm sorry--" she started, looking back over at sarah. "i caved a piece of the drywall in, replaying the argument."

“sorry were you talking to me?” ellie pulled their headphones off, looking back over at the other as he seemed to be trying to get their attention. “i’ve got like two decades of music to catch up on, so make it fucking quick, cool?”

they weren’t sure “adjusted” was the right word for how settled they had been here within the city. if anything, they just stopped sleeping with a gun under their pillow.. though a switchblade still stuck close to her side. sarah had been a big help in that, in making her feel slightly at ease in a big city like this, in an environment that only brought memories of the qz’s back to the forefront of their mind. but as they moved, looking over their shoulder, they felt a presence all too close to them, turning instantly in a panic, blade drawn at his throat before the realization crashed down around them. “--joel?”
