Poe hides love letters for Mushitaro and Ranpo in the novels which he writes and which he gives to his boyfriends so that they can read the novel, solve the crime and give him thier critique it later.
He started doing it because he really wanted to give his boyfriends old-fashioned love letters but he never had the guts to do so. Of course they were dating but giving them love letters personally and watching them read it was something for which both,he and his anxiety, weren't ready for.
Eventually got the idea with the novels so he finally wrote two letters. One for Ranpo and one for Mushitaro. He placed them between some pages in the novel which he just finished and handed them the book later that day before he went out to buy some new notebooks and ink.
Mushitaro and Ranpo were pleasently surprised when they found the letters and both were pretty touched too.
They found them pretty quick bc Ranpo saw that something was stuck between the pages the moment were Poe gave them the book.
Normally it would have been Ranpo's turn to read the book first cause Mushitaro read Poe's last novel first so he was already leaving the room when Ranpo called him back and handed him the letter with his name. They both definitly felt thier hearts skip a beat when they were reading the letters and Mushitaro who was still new to recriving this much of geniue affection and love maybe got a bit glassy eyes. He would never openly admit it tho. Both were blushing a bit and Ranpo smiled like an idiot, reading the letter over and over again.
From this day on, Poe often hides love letters in his new novels. Not everytime bc it should be something special and not routine but he does it frequently. He always pours his heart onto these letters and he decorates them a bit making each of them look like a small piece of art. Since he can write novels it's obvious that he rarley fails to find words to express how he feels and it's obvious that each letter is beautifully written and worded.
Mushitaro and Ranpo both keep thier letters safley stored in a secure place and bound together so that they won't ever lose them. Often they get the letters and read them if one of them feels slightly down or stressed and it never fails to cheer them up or make them feel loved.

Bonus:
After some time, Ranpo and Mushitaro started to get little presents for Poe too which they hid somewhere where he could find them eaisly.
Ranpo wasn't good with words or better with expressing his feelings and especially not through writing so he started to buy Poe his favorite sweets often and placed them into the pockets of his jacket or he placed them next to his cup of coffee.
Mushitaro on the other hand wrote him short poems on small pieces of paper which he sometimes placed in the novel before he gave it back to Poe.
He really tried his best with the poems and Poe always loved them. They were always just as romantic as Poe's love letters and sometimes just a tad melancholic but he didn't mind. Poe loved melanchonic litrature after all.
All Alone! Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you'll be quite a lot.

From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I loved, I loved alone.
-Edgar Allan Poe
