@eavera:
thank you, (/and she blushes, because compliments are her main source of validation and energy) — (/confusion floods expressive features before she lights up with a laugh, understanding setting in) no, it’s fine, he’s talking to the team or something, anyway. (/pleased with the outcome of stepping outside of her will-focused bubble, vera smiles. she’s heard so much about kay from kaya and it all starts to click together as she talks to him) are you having fun? (/curious, concerned, genuine care for his emotions. they step into place on the dance floor, and vera is truly worried about kay’s experience of the night)
( ‵ Kay waits for an answer, assumes it’s a ‘yes’ because he knows a little bit about Vera from Kaya. He’s a gentleman and he swiftly takes her hand to guide her to the dance floor, careful not to step on her dress or anything that concerns ruining the night ) yes, of course ( ‵ he answers, not entirely sure what fun means but he is happy ) how about you? ( ‵ he returns the genuine favor, settling his hands on her hips almost mechanically, hoping she doesn’t mind )
(/a vague notion of familiarity— he's kaya's brother afterall, and so she feels compelled to say something) hi kay! (/smiles too bright to make up for her lack of confidence) you look amazing tonight! definitely one of the best dressed guys here. (/it's said with nothing but sincerity, her smile softening as she delivers the compliment because she means it)
( ‵ Kay jerks slightly in surprise. He turns around, fixing his posture afterwards ) Hey– Vera, right? ( ‵ he asks, he has a list of Kaya’s close friends, not that it’s creepy ) what, no ( ‵ he laughs faintly, he is not used to compliments and he never will be ) but you look beautiful ( ‵ he changes the subject ) do you want to dance or is Will going to kill me?
teacher’s pet
( ‵ Kay feels like he’s been moving back and forth from the dance floor and to the table of punch. At this point, he figures to just sit back and drink the whole punch up. There’s a sea of people with endless chatter and hopeless romance, but Kay’s halfway through walking towards the table when he feels something hitting against his back, and something...wet ) ... ( ‵ he turns around to see his favorite teacher and he realizes that he smells like citrus and pineapple now, tough luck )
a queen is never late
( ‵ It smells like alcohol and sweat, but Kay is not complaining. He enters the girl’s locker room and a few sticky glances greet him the second he does. He’s only here to get his sister, and he swears he’s going to kill anyone if he sees him (or her) kissing Kaya ) has anyone seen Kaya? ( ‵ he says with a loud vibrato it comes off a little like a shout, but he doesn’t care at all-- it would be accurate to say that he only cares about his twin. His temper sets down when he sees Kaya-- stunning. He walks towards her ) you ready to go? ( ‵ he says, a sweet big brother showing ever so bluntly )
after all this time
I love you and I will tell you everyday, everyday until you forget those things that hurt. I hate the things that make you hurt and how I wish I could take them away. If only it could be done, I’ll do it for sure.
Kay thinks that the moon has been shining the brightest for tonight, and the ballroom is filled with so many different scents and bodies that Kay starts having a mental panic, he doesn’t want to be enclosed. He can’t seem to keep himself down, maybe if this would happen a few years ago, he’d run to her and she’d soothe every aching memory he has.
But he figures that she’s long gone, and he’s happy that he had let her go for her sake alone. So, there he is, halfway through flirting so professionally with a masked woman he figures he wouldn’t even recognize tomorrow, or the day after that.
Kay opens his mouth to idly reply, but he sees a figure behind her, almost like a passing hue. But the hue suddenly triggers his heart thumping so hard, almost two hundred beats per millisecond.
“Coppelia...” he whispers, letting his words sink and fade away. He excuses himself from the stranger before chasing after the hue-- hoping, silently hoping.
He feels something rolling against his cheeks, tears?
nysnø meets schnee
( ‵ Exhaustion is all it takes for Kay to settle back and out from the dance floor. He’s bored, almost, when he spots a station of free food. He walks towards the big bowl of punch, moving his hand to reach for a cup when he feels his arm brushing against something, or someone ) uhm, sorry ( ‵ he says faintly )
take my hand, take my whole life too
Believe me that one day, there’d be a passing thought in your head, wanting you to make your “what if”s into “what is”s.
You can sit still and let it pass by...or you can grasp it--and never let go.
The people are still buzzing, music is still blaring, and Kay can’t keep up with his sister. At this point, he figures to give up just for an hour as his light footsteps drag him out of the Great Hall and into the building’s roof deck.
Kay doesn’t know why thronecoming would be this exhausting, he has danced with almost every person he knows or can recognize behind masks and he thinks he’s already spent for tonight.
He doesn’t want anyone bothering him now, and inhales the beauty of the campus’ roof deck; a small gazebo just in front of an old Ever After oak tree and the stars dripping from the sky.
Kay starts climbing the tree, sitting ever so comfortably on a thick and sturdy branch before leaning his back against the trunk.
Tonight is beautiful.
