peony’s words are met with a sound that voices rei’s confusion, “huh?” a smile still paints her lips as she finally finds some enjoyment in the water, kicking her leg up and watching the water ripple, splash, and collapse in her movements. she’s beginning to realize why everyone was so excited to come in the first place.
so unfortunately the other teen’s warning falls upon deaf ears. the red haired girl focuses on enjoying herself for once and is blissfully unaware of the tides sudden change.
it happens quickly, where waves barely passing her shins gradually climbing up to her thighs and causing her to lose balance at the sudden impact. but fortunately enough it’s nothing that rei can’t doggy paddle out of. if you want to call thrashing about desperately doggy paddling.
the sand is warm but she feels the waves on her fingertips, staring back at the sea with furrowed brows, “i hate the ocean.”
