It's funny how sketching designs goes. I start doodling random junk that doesn't look good at all, until I stumble on an idea or shape I like. And even once I know what I'm going for, it usually takes at least three or four iterations to turn "cool and very vague idea" into "concrete design with actual lines".
Here's the page in my sketchbook where I was designing new ear wraps. You can see the dragon took several takes (and I'm still not sure I like those swirls!). And the "sheltering arms" design straight up turned into interwoven lotuses!
This one, on the other hand, came out beautiful in a single sketch. Go figure.
(Yes it's the moon again. Yes the scribble next to it says "silver moon cradled in the embrace of the swirling night wind." I am nothing if not a hopeless romantic in love with the moon.)
Playing around with new designs for ear wraps 🦋💎
I love the shape of these luna moth-inspired ones, but I haven't quite figured out the "fill" swirls, yet; I don't want to overwhelm that lovely outline!

Are these mermaid ears? Ocean elf ears? Ears for some sort of beach-dwelling, shell-loving pixie? I have no clue! But I wanted to try another pair of ocean-themed ear wraps, and this time, I used a lot of beads. I love how all those colorful beads ended up looking like sparkling water drops.

(There was also another pair of earrings, but they sold already. I’ll definitely post pictures of them later anyway, because I’m just too proud of how gorgeous they turned out!)
Red Rose Elf Ears
Most of my pieces are made of sea glass or shell, (hence the name Dreaming Deeps Designs,) but I’ve recently started making elf ear wraps as well. I originally made my sister a pair for her birthday, looking up a million references and tutorials and still not really knowing what I was doing! Luckily they turned out great anyway, and she loved them so much she encouraged me to try making some for my Etsy.
