FirstKhaotung got me soooo good… just wanted to check them out, didn’t expect to completely fall for them. Started with Moonlight Chicken, not even two weeks ago, followed by Only Friends and The Eclipse (A Tale of Thousand Stars was in the mix too, I was in hardcore binge mode). Finished up The Heart Killers on Wednesday and now I’m not sure what to do with myself.
But since I’ve now watched all of their major series (although I found out they do have small roles in Ossan’s Love Thailand with EarthMix, so I may have to go check that out or maybe I'll watch more of their solo ventures), gonna do a little rank and review… starting with my least favorite (which is actually still a good show).
So sitting in 4th place:
Moonlight Chicken
Loved Mix in it. Loved GeminiFourth... they had some of the best scenes in the series. First and Khao were both fantastic in it, but since they weren’t one of the main pairs they got very little screen time together. Their relationship in this is just a blip. But it’s still a show worth watching, I mostly enjoyed it. Wasn’t a fan of Earth in this, but I became a fan when I watched A Tale of Thousand Stars, immediately after. Since I liked Mix so much I wanted to give Earth another chance, glad I did cause that show was worth watching. Khaotung also had a supporting role in that, no First there though.
Next up in 3rd place:
The Heart Killers
This series was good, although I think they went a little safe with the ending. It started off really strong, was enjoying it and then felt like it got a little muddled towards the end. There were still some great moments, even in the last few episodes, but overall it just wasn’t my fave series of theirs. And this was my first JoongDunk series, so I wasn’t really as invested in them, at least not yet. But I was already extremely hooked on FirstKhao, at this point, and I wanted to see even more of them. So every time it switched over to JD, I was like “wait no, not yet… bring FK back”. I think they tried to make it a pretty even split of screen time between the two couples because they are both popular pairings. But I still wanted more FirstKhao, I’ve really got it bad for these two. And First with tattoos... that was just 🔥, he looked good.
In 2nd place we have:
The Eclipse
I adored their characters in this. The slow burn, enemies to lovers story was great. It shocks me that this was their first series together cause their chemistry was already off the charts. I was kinda meh about watching this one, cause high school/university BLs aren’t always my fave. I’m not sure if it’s because there is an overabundance or maybe it’s cause I’m way beyond that age range… but I usually prefer the dramas that are outside of a school setting. It has to be really good for me to enjoy it. FirstKhao got me in the door on this one and I’m glad they did. Loved it! Thanks guys. Also I just need to say that Neo redeemed himself in this, cause I hated his character, Boston, in Only Friends but I loved him in this.
And finally (drum roll please) in 1st place:
Only Friends
This was a show I wasn’t even going to watch. But since I’m a ForceBook fan and I wanted to check out more FirstKhao, I thought "what the hay, I'll give it a go". Did not think I would get so sucked in. It had me yelling at the TV, every time a character did something stupid… which was a lot. It’s not a feel good romcom, by any means, this show is full of drama and riddled with toxic red flags, especially Ray… but I can’t help but love him. Khaotung’s performance in this show is just, I don’t think words can convey how good it was. First too, they were both amazing, fantastic. They captivated me. SandRay now have a special place in my heart. In a previous post I mentioned that FirstKhao are the lock screen on my phone, it’s them as SandRay. I kinda want to watch the series again. What is wrong with me?
And now we wait… Cat for Cash finished filming recently, so hopefully there will be a start date announcement soon. Who knows when The Invisble Dragon will be… but I’ll be ready, whenever. I’ve watched so many edits of the trailer since it dropped, I’m already loving those characters. These two together are magic.
Think I might go watch the trailer again. The looks these two give each other is just...
PERFECTION.
get on the clown train with me. the invisible dragon starts filming in july. fk never have that many things going on at once, so let's assume it ends up like cfc and they manage to wrap it in 3-ish months. they finish filming in september, we get a fall release for tid. i cheer, you cheer, we all cheer.
