One month complete on the #5x5stronglifts program. I decided to try this program as an alternative to traditional PT and aquatic PT when that didn't go as well as my Dr. and I had planned. I have a 11.5mm bulging disc in my L5/S1 that presses against my spinal cord and nerve. A month ago I couldn't bend over to touch my toes nor could I sit for long periods of time before my legs would go numb or have pain. Coincidentally while doing this program, I was listening to the art manliness podcast (episode 371) with Dr Darin Deaton from @startingstrength who puts most patients under a barbell after an assetment. I knew I was on the right track after listening to Dr. Deaton explain his methodology of how barbell training would help patients. Granted I'm not following Starting Strength programming but Squats Fix everything right??. This program is not for everyone and I won't recommend it as an alternative for PT and I am doing this under doctor care with that In the past month since starting this program I have never felt better, I can bend over touch my toes, I can and drive with little to no pain in either leg.
