Earthquakes, tsunamis, forest/brush fires, hurricanes, tornados, volcanic eruptions, flooding. Just to name a few. These natural disasters are killing us. All over the world people are experiencing the earths warnings, losing their family members, homes & livelihoods. Leaving them homeless, broken and defeated. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. 70% of the worlds plants are in jeopardy of extinction. The total number of extinct animal species on the planet is 785. Anywhere from 200 to 2,000 extinctions occur every year. And what for? Agriculture? First world packaged foods? Oil? Or simply: Greed? What good will the money in our bank accounts be if the water we have to drink is poisoned by drilling for oil? Or when there is no more clean air to breathe? Money, power and greed are the root of destruction. And we are unknowingly putting our own species on the endangered list. I am urging you to register to vote, and seek out a leader who will vow to make changes for our planet. Pay close attention to science and climate summits. Support the next generation of activists like @gretathunberg who is speaking out and making her life not about her but her planet. And lastly please know, Mother Earth will recover without us. She’s done it time and time again throughout history. Shipwreck at Moonset . A crescent Moon is about to sink under the western horizon in this sea and night skyscape. The atmospheric photo was taken on September 11 from the desert shore along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia. So close to moonset, the moonlight is reddened and dimmed by the low, long line-of-sight across the Atlantic. But near the center of the frame Venus still shines brightly, its light reflected in calm ocean waters. The celestial beacon above the brilliant evening star is bright planet Jupiter. Namibia's Skeleton Coast was so named for the many seal and whale bones that were once strewn along the shoreline. In more recent times it's better known for shipwrecks. .
