Llamando a Ecco (2014)

Cualquiera que tenga cierta cultura cinéfila podrá advertir que este filme tiene ciertas influencias que no son muy difíciles de advertir: un poco de “ET, el extraterrestre” (1982), una pizca de “Los Goonies” (1985), algo del espíritu de “Super 8” (2011), una figura robótica que parece mezclar “Milagro en la calle 8” (1987) con la EVA de “Wall-E” (2008).

Bajo la excusa del “found footage”, un recurso utilizado en obras más adultas o terroríficas para acrecentar la ilusión de realidad porque pone al espectador en un rol más activo, en primera persona, la historia habla de tres amigos a punto de separarse y su encuentro con un misterio. Tucker ”Tuck" Simms (Astro), Alex Nichols (Teo Halm) y  Reginald "Munch" Barrett (Reese Hartwig) descubren que sus celulares actúan de manera inusual, emitiendo imágenes y sonidos chillones e indescifrables. Y algunas pistas, que deciden investigar esa misma noche, a espalda de sus padres, registrando toda la aventura y descubriendo una realidad que los llevará más allá de este mundo, fantástica y peligrosa a la vez.

Dave Green dirige “Earth to Echo” (el título utilizado en este post corresponde al mexicano), una película estadounidense en la que la historia recae menos en el misterio de Ecco que en la amistad de tres chicos muy distintos, forzados a separarse por una extraña decisión inmobiliaria ajena a sus deseos. 

Eso sí: quédense hasta el final que hay una escena post créditos.

"Find the ones who haven't given up. They're the future." #Tomorrowland is such an inspiring and wonderful movie. And I know with how much I pitch movies like #Tusk, #EarthToEcho, or #Tremors5 my opinion should probably be taken with a grain of salt, but stop asking, "Why?" and ask "Why not?"
