Nicole peaked through the window of her car, she could see her keys sitting in the cup holder. "Stupid, stupid, stupid.." she whispered to herself while pressing her forehead against the glass at lightly banging her head against the window. Pulling on the handle as if out night magically done unlocked. She saw someone out of the corner of her eye. "I'm not stealing the car, though the ability to do that would come in handy right about now, it's my car." She explained pointing through the window, "I locked myself out of my car."

OPEN LOCATION: sunset beach SETTING: bonfire / chey’s 30th birthday

It was her thirtieth birthday. The big three-oh. She was lucky it fell on the weekend of the bonfire, but even luckier to have friends who threw their own makeshift party on the beach for her. Although it was a beautiful night full of drinking, clear skies with stars above, and the warmth of a beautiful bonfire… she still somehow found herself sitting off alone in the sand, looking out to the ocean while she sipped on her beer. The night felt bittersweet, and she was lost in her own head. When she heard the shift of sand behind her, she knew someone was walking up to her. Without turning, she said, “If you’re here to convince me to come back to the bonfire, I hope you at least brought me another beer.. Or cake.”

Zelda loved her record store more than pretty much anything, well, besides her grandpa. She felt more at home in the little store than in her actual home and anytime she was working the checkout it brought a genuine smile when someone would enter her store. Even if they didn’t buy anything, just preferred to browse, she was happy that they just took interest and would happily tell them to “come again”. So, on a slow day like this one, she couldn’t help the smile that came on her face when she heard the bell above the door chime announcing the arrival of a customer she looked toward the entrance and welcomed them. “Hello! Can I help you with anything?”

Setting up a dessert truck for the Bonfire had taken up more time than she imagined and hadn’t exactly fit into her budget either. But Hayley was finally doing something which she wanted to do in a long time and it made her happy to know that she had managed to pull it off. She had been planning this for a while, but only as she and the girls who were helping er served her customers that evening did she realize how much she had missed this. It was before Heather was born that she last done anything like this, but this was a reminder of what she wanted, reminder of her dream to have her own little bakery one day. “What can I get you?” she asked the next person in line, a bright smile on her features. @eastcliffopens​

Everett was driving a tad bit too fast that day. Okay, like really super fast. Who really cared about speed limits -- certainly not them. It was safe to say they weren’t really paying attention to the pedestrians but just as they took another sharp turn, they almost rode over someone who was crossing the road. They slammed on the brakes, barely missing the person and spoke after they slid down the window on his side of the car. “You okay or what?” @eastcliffopens​

     The girl was mostly an honest person, though there were these hidden layers that got her in trouble some nights. With a couple of drinks in her system, she found herself picking up her old college habits – hustling. Cue stick in hand, she breathed in slowly and focused on the remaining ball. With steady precision, she took her aim. Clank. And just like that, it became all too obvious that this was not her first round of pool. She leaned against her cue stick and smiled at her opponent. “So, what was that? You owe me twenty dollars now? Beginner’s luck, I guess.”

“Yes, yes, you can have the pink cupcake if you behave.” Hayley told Heather as they stood in line at the coffee shop. It was a few minutes before she got her hands on the cupcake for her daughter and a coffee for herself and naturally the little one had gotten progressively impatient during the wait. On having the cupcake finally handed to her, Heather squealed and ran to the nearest table and climbed onto the chair. Hayley hurried after her, looking at the other who was seated at the same table sheepishly. “Sorry, I hope we aren’t bothering you.” @eastcliffopens​

Amira had signed up to perform for the local fair and even though this wasn’t her first time performing in front of a large crowd she always got nervous. She tried to seem calm and exude confidence but her her throat felt as if it was a desert when she heard all the people from backstage and ran out from backstage to find something to drink and ended up running into someone in the crowds of people. “Sorry.” She said trying to calm herself.
