alexdavenportâ:
âYou just hate cheap pizza, donât you?â Alex accused her sister, breaking into a grin a moment later. âOh, come on. Healthy is great and all, and it means I wonât die on a run the next day, but a cheap, greasy pizza is good. Itâs a universal truth, you canât argue with it.â She reasoned. She knew the reason for Hayley being against that sort of food, and she was absolutely happy she could live off the leftovers from her, but at the same time, takeaway food was something she absolutely enjoyed. âYou can always promise her that sheâll get to feed another puppy tomorrow if she falls asleep. Iâm sure thatâll get her calm straight away.â Alex mused as she sat down at the table once all was set up, taking a sip of her wine. âShe seems like sheâs growing up by the hour to me, I canât even imagine what itâs like for you.â
âYes, maybe.â she rolled her eyes playfully. âOnce in a while, not every day, Alex.â She wasnât going to give in so easily to her sister even though she had to agree the cheap pizza she bought wasnât all bad. Atleast it was better than frozen microwave meals. She chuckled at her suggestion, taking a sip of her wine. âI am sure thatâs going to work, I am thinking of getting a dog actually, she keeps asking.â Placing her glass aside, she went to get the lasagna out of the oven, placing it on the counter and turning back to her. âI honestly canât believe it, it sometimes feels like she was a baby literally yesterday.â
atticusmercerâ:
He knew she was right, just like always. He knew he should make more of an effort and probably stop living in the fantasy that one day heâd actually end up with the woman he wanted. But he couldnât help but keep dreaming. Atticus knew he shouldâve picked his words more carefully, shaking his head at her question. âItâs nothing, she just wants to know how you and Heather are doing, thatâs all. You know what sheâs like.â It was only a part lie but enough that it could seem like the whole truth, he hoped. âPerfect.â He beamed. âItâll be over and done with and sheâll just be happy with seeing you both properly. Yeah, we can plan it for whenever is best for you, Hales.â
âOh.â A nervous chuckle fell from her lips at his explanation. Of course she had a hundred questions about her, as did half the town. She wasnât surprised. âWell, letâs hope after we have dinner together she will let you live peacefully.â she said teasingly. She smiled seeing how happy he seemed about the idea, she did miss his mom, maybe she was simply overthinking how bad it could be. Besides, she had to get used to talking about her past. It was a part of her, as much as she liked to deny it. âIâll let you know when. But thereâs a bigger issue. I have to come by one day and make sure your kitchen is something I can work with, probably do grocery shopping for you.â she said grinning cheekily at him.
athenalewisâ:
âReally? Why did I not know this? I need to sort that out ASAP.â Her eyes widening at this new information whilst making a mental note to look into that later on. Thea was still surprised with this reveal, even as Hayley went into detail about why her mum might like her so much but from what she was aware Atticus had been around since him and Hayley were kids so never in a million years would Athena have thought she could top a friendship like that. âYeah, weâll have to arrange like a girl day with your mum and sister, we could go for lunch or something?â She suggested, her friend circle was small since arriving in Eastcliff and she had been so thankful that Hayley had been here otherwise it wouldâve probably been even smaller. âItâs definitely more a hook-up site than a dating site, thatâs for sure.â
âI didnât either, till a while ago. But then again, I am very bad at checking messages anyway so it doesnât even matter.â She laughed a little, mostly at herself. She wasnât all that involved when it came to social media. it made things awkward when she saw messages weeks after they came, and she didnât know if she should reply to it or not. She was most active only on her instagram, which was pretty much just a food blog at the most with Heatherâs pics in there occasionally. âThat would actually be amazing.â Hayley said brightly. âI am sure Heather would love that too, Iâll ask mom and Alex when they will be free. I mean, mom should be okay with any day but Alex has a busy schedule.â she mused. âTrue, I suppose itâs easier to find people more willing to have a one night stand.â she added shrugging.

With Hayley insisting that she wasnât a bother, Avery didnât want to be rude and to be honest she could do with a decent meal; not that she wasnât good at cooking but sheâd taken on a lot of extra shifts at the diner which had only grown busier with the summer break and she was often home late so just grabbed a snack to eat since her siblings had already eaten. âOkay.â She nodded for a moment before shaking her head. âOh no, I understand youâre busy and I havenât exactly been free myself so it works both ways. Do you want any help cooking?â
A smile grew on his lips as the other agreed to stay and eat. âOh, I do need help cooking, if you are staying I am putting you to good use.â she chuckled as she walked towards the kitchen and put the water on the boil for her pasta. âYou can start by chopping these vegetables.â She got out the veggies from the fridge and passed it to her. âYou want chicken or shrimp?â she asked the other as she opened her freezer to see what she had in hand.

âYes, yes, you can have the pink cupcake if you behave.â Hayley told Heather as they stood in line at the coffee shop. It was a few minutes before she got her hands on the cupcake for her daughter and a coffee for herself and naturally the little one had gotten progressively impatient during the wait. On having the cupcake finally handed to her, Heather squealed and ran to the nearest table and climbed onto the chair. Hayley hurried after her, looking at the other who was seated at the same table sheepishly. âSorry, I hope we arenât bothering you.â @eastcliffopensâ

She had a point. When it came to Chey, variety was always best - and of course, more the merrier. Grayson wasnât going to argue with that logic, though he wouldâve taken whatever Hayley threw his way. âThat sounds perfect, then. Iâll take a box of different flavors. Surprise me.â Looking back down the beach, he then glanced back at Hayley and smiled. Luckily there was no one behind him in line for the time being. As much as he loved Chey, he still struggled to feel comfortable at parties. Good god, had he really turned into that much of a recluse? âSheâll be happy to see you. She has nothing but good things to say about you, yâknow.â Grayson smiled and shoved his hands into his pockets. âI know this is kind of random, but do you need any help finishing up here? I donât mind lending a hand.âÂ
âChey is sweet like that.â she said with a smile and began to ready the box of cupcakes for him. She turned towards him again when he offered to help her finish up. âOh, thank you, but itâs not necessary, really.â she insisted. âI hired someone to help, her friends were here so she took a break but sheâll be back in a few minutes.â She handed him the neatly packed box of cupcakes and smiled. âIâll see you at the party, Grayson. You have fun.â
wyattxdaytonâ:
âYou definitely should. Itâs like Chunky Monkey, but somehow better.â She assured her. âHi there, Heather. I like that song too, itâs a great one.â Wyatt waved at the little girl as she spoke. âYou sure?â
"You don't have to tell me twice, my choice for tonight is decided." she chuckled. Heather waved back at her while starting to attempt to get on one of the chairs without much success. "Oh yes, I would love for you to join us whenever you're ready." she insisted with a smile playing on her lips.

She wasnât sure how much of what the other was saying was true, but she didnât see the point in pushing her to talk if she didnât want to. âIf youâre sure.â she responded with small smile on her lips, resting her head over hers. âWell, you can be sure your friends are calling out to you louder.â she teased. âSo I suggest you finish that cake and we go over there and dance till we drop.â
Hayley was a reminder that Chey needed. A reminder that even if the woman could feel particularly lonely at times, she wasnât necessarily alone. There were people who loved her, people who showed up for her birthday that night. Chey took in a deep breath and smiled in agreement. âAye-aye, captain.â Picking at the rest of the cake, she ate it quick and swabbed some frosting on her finger before pushing it on Hayleyâs face with a bright smile. âThanks again for the cake,â she told her cheekily before quickly getting up and running over to the fire where people gathered while jamming out to music loudly.Â
atticusmercerâ:
âSheâs my goddaughter, Iâm suppose to spoil her.â He chuckled as he turned his attention back to Heather as she filled her bucket back up with sand. He waited until she wandered back over and took the bucket from her so she could sit back in the space she had before. Atticus was a little sadden that his time with the pair was coming to an end but he had other plans as well, the annual bonfire which his dad used as an annual team bonding experience with the guys from work; all sat around a bonfire enjoying a few beers. âWell Iâll make sure to be one of your first customers.â He told her with a smile as he helped Heather make another sandcastle. âReally? Itâs been that long?â Atticus was a little surprised. âHave you thought about doing it more permanently?â
âYouâre not supposed to spoil her.â she rolled her eyes playfully before her eyes fell on Heather again, watching her walk back to Atty excitedly. âShe loves you, she canât stop babbling about you after every time she spends time with you.â As though in agreement to her words, Heather threw his little arms around him as soon as he took her bucket. She laughed lightly when he said that he would be one of her first customers. âYou better.â she said teasingly before she nodded. Time just seemed to fly, and before she knew it years had passed. âYeah, I actually have been thinking about it.â she chewed on her lower lip. âItâs not.. well, I donât know if I should focus on getting a bakery started now? Itâs going to take up a lot of my time if I do.â
mandacjsâ:
Hayley was one of those people in her life that Chey enjoyed being a light in. She didnât like Hayley to think she was anything less than the image she painted of Chey being in the middle of the party going wild. So, she opted for white lies instead of slipping farther into her thoughts that evening. âNothingâs bothering me,â she protested and looked out to the water. âYou know me, I just love the ocean so much. Felt it calling out to me.â She smiled and moved to rest her head on the womanâs shoulder. âWhy go wild when I can just enjoy some cake by the ocean, or whatever that Jonas kid sang about.âÂ
She wasnât sure how much of what the other was saying was true, but she didnât see the point in pushing her to talk if she didnât want to. âIf youâre sure.â she responded with small smile on her lips, resting her head over hers. âWell, you can be sure your friends are calling out to you louder.â she teased. âSo I suggest you finish that cake and we go over there and dance till we drop.â
graysoncxâ:
Not wanting to show up empty handed to Cheyâs party, Grayson found himself suddenly in a line for a dessert that she would surely love one way or another. As he got closer, he noticed the woman in the truck and realized he had seen her before a handful of times. Between Atticus and Chey, they had the same circle of friends and he had always meant to get to know Hayley more. Especially from how highly they spoke of her. Once he was next in line, he gave her a small smile and nodded. âHey,â he greeted casually first and then glanced at the little menu. âIâll take whatever cupcake you got. Iâm actually grabbing it for Chey, so whatever you think sheâll like⊠This is an awesome setup you have, by the way.â
"For Chey?" A smile grew on her lips. "How many? I can't really suggest anything too specific for her. You canât put her in a box.â she grinned. âI say take a few different flavours and let her taste all of them. I think she'll be far more happy with than than a bunch of the same ones." She chuckled and had a look at her watch. "Thank you, it's been fun doing this. I hope I won't take too long to finish up and join all of you down there." she mused. "Can't miss all the excitement." Being here in the truck was exciting too but she had a feeling Chey would actually kill her if she didn't show up. Not to mention, her cake was sitting in her fridge.
atticusmercerâ:
âSee told you weâd make an awesome sandcastle.â He chuckled, gently tickled Heatherâs sides as he looked back down at the young girl for a moment before nodding at her request to make another. âOf course, sweetheart.â He beamed, glancing up at Hayley again. âIâll happily make sandcastles with her all day if she wants.â Atticus watched as Heather rose to her feet, handing her the bucket theyâd be using before. âDo you want to fill that with some sand and Iâll help you set it down, yeah?â Watching as she took a few steps away from him to go do exactly that, he turned his attention back to Hayley though kept Heather in the corner of his eye. âWhen are you at your dessert truck?â Atticus asked, wondering how much time he had left to spend with them both.
"You're spoiling her." she chuckled. Heather seemed all too pleased when Atticus agreed to build more sand castles with her. She was a mess and Hayley probably will have to ask her mother to give her a bath when she comes by to pick her up for the evening. "In little over an hour." she told him with a smile. "You know, I realized yesterday that the last time I technically sold anything I baked was before Heather was born." She looked at her daughter fondly before turning back to Atty. "It feels weird and nice at the same time doing this. I love helping Dad at the shop but, it's a pretty mundane job, you know? Especially on the slower days."
reinaxmartinezâ:
âOh, itâs okay. It was totally an accident.â Reina replied, waving her hand dismissively at the other brunette. She wanted to be compassionate in this moment, in the even that one day she had a daughter who ran around and accidentally bumped into people like Heather had. Karma and stuff. âDefinitely down to get a replacement. Yes!â she nodded, her smile growing. âAwww, hi Heather.â Reina waved to the little girl. âToo cute. Nice to meet you, Hayley. Iâm Reina. No daughter for me. Not yet.â She grinned with a confirming nod. âI was just doing a live for my instagram. No worries, it was already done, so..ohmigod, have you tried these empanadas before? Theyâre the best! For real.â @hayleysdavenportsâ  Â
"An accident that could have been easily avoided if I was able to make her stand still." she chuckled, beaming as the other seemed happy enough to join her. Heather meanwhile was trying to make a grab for Reina's phone. "Heather, no!" Hayley said exasperatedly before turning to the other. "She really likes watching Peppa Pig on my phone and now she has the habit of grabbing any gadget in sight." she explained before she shook her head in response to Reinaâs excited question. "No, but I did hear they were really good and that's why I wanted to get one." Holding her daughter by her hand, Hayley stood in line with Reina when they got to the truck. "So, are you are a local or here to visit?"
