Eat Berlin - Evie’s Beans, Mitte - MOVED

It’s not a big spot, but perfectly designed. A big help to create it was a father who’s a carpenter (sounds familiar?). When you enter, you get the whole idea, each detail fits perfectly. I was standing there and looking. Then I grabbed my coffee and this is when the real magic happens.

The coffee is delicious, perfectly balanced and I loved my flat white. They also have cookies and some cake. It’s not a breakfast place, but a real coffee spot. You can come and grab it to take away and, happy days, they open at 8am, which is not a normal thing in Berlin. It gives you this unique experience to drink a delicious cup of coffee on your way work and enjoy it with sun rays on your face (if possible). But to be frank, I definitely recommend you staying inside and chatting with the barista. He has awesome stories to tell you, like traveling in a cafe van around Europe and trying to sell coffee on a way. This is one (next to an awesome coffee) of the biggest advantages of the place - very friendly atmosphere. You will feel welcome and you will feel like staying for longer. There’s not many places to sit, but I definitely enjoyed a counter next to a big window, where I could observe a busy life of Mitte.

The cafe is combined in one space with a fashion store, but they work totally independently, so go if even if you don't feel like shopping.

Eat Berlin - Annelies, Kreuzberg

The second BIG advantage of Annelies is delicious coffee. Third - minimalist and cozy interior. Fourth - awesome service.

I will not lie to you, I came here to eat in  Gipfeltreffen, but it turned out to be out of business. Instead, I found Annelies and it made my day. New delicious place with pancakes to die for. I am going back with Mr T. and Mia to try some more.

Eat Berlin - Oliv Eat, Mitte

This spot is beautiful. And I mean it. Look at these grey walls, small tables and all the space. They have beautiful ceramics to serve your meal and food is delicious as well. I enjoyed a friendly service and fresh flowers in vases and the calm atmosphere. Next time I’m there, I’ll sit next to the big window and look at people while drinking my coffee.

Going back to food, I’ve heard of their delicious cakes, but I did order a breakfast meal (surprise, surprise). My avocado sandwich had a small twist and was delicious. Poached egg was just like I like it. Coffee was nice as well and I do like my coffee.

So this is it. You can come here for brunch with a friend, or to write, or to read, or to simply eat. But this is an interesting spot.

Eat Berlin - Friedl Rösterei & Kekse, Prenzlauer Berg

Going back to business - they have a very good coffee from all around and they know how to make a good cup. And... wait for it... they have an amazing/delicious/beautiful/mouthwatering brownies and other sweets. They also have a very fair prices for these goods, what is appreciated by yours truly.

  As a very honest person I told the owners that I appreciate the brownie’s price and that coffee is amazing and this tiny place is such a gem. And, apparently this was their plan, to make people happy. What makes you more happy than good coffee and sweets?

They also roast beans and you can see the roastery part through a big old school window. It definitely is a place to come with a book or a nice magazine and to simply enjoy your time.

Minimal decor gives it a rough yet interesting look.  And there are small packages of different coffee you can take home and try. Definitely, but definitely grab one brownie.

My happy place! My Mum and I stumbled upon this adorable cafe whilst she was here visiting me last weekend. Naturally, we were drawn in by it's name- 'What Do You Fancy, Love?' (which my curious Mum found out is a memoir to the owners cafe experiences whilst travelling from London to Australia). Decorated with funky portraits of celebs & kitsch furniture, playing Kiss radio and serving the most delicious goodies, this healthy-food bar can't help but make customers smile. Everything they sell is made with good quality, fresh ingredients each morning in store and let me tel you, the smell that fills the place (coming from their kitchen) is divine. From sweetly named juices (the 'Kiss Me' is very popular) to homemade bagels to fruit-yog-granola bowls, breakfast is this place's middle name. But that doesn't mean it's not a hit throughout the rest of the day. Why not try the peanut-butter & chocolate-chip cookies or the carrot cake? You might as well have a raspberry brownie whilst you're there, too. You know you want to. I'm in love with this cafe and so is the rest of Berlin. My area was in desperate need of somewhere like this. Looking for totally lecker (yummy) food at a good price (with free wifi!)? I'll answer that question with another one- 'What do you fancy, love?' !

Thai for lunch? Pho Sure! Living in Berlin has made me understand the saying 'Don't judge a book by it's cover'. The restaurants with the best food don't always have the most stylish exteriors or flash furniture. In fact, the yummiest places usually look the worst but it's probably because they put all of their time and energy into their cuisine. True, it can make it hard to know which restaurants to go to but I guess that's part of the fun of getting to know a new place. My advice is to ask around for insiders tips on where to go and, of course, just try as many places as you can! You might just find your new favourite! And if not, we live and learn from our mistakes, right? :-D Anyway. Enough rambling. I wanted to tell you about Sakorn. It may look like an Internet cafe from the outside but, as we've already discussed, looks can be deceiving! It is a Thai restaurant on Kant Straße, primarily open for lunch but you could grab an early dinner there if you wanted (it closes at 20:00). I went for the first time just before Christmas after a friend recommended it and I've been about 5 times since. Yes, there are plenty of Asian food joints in Berlin and yes, many are very cheap. However, it's very rare to find a traditional Asian kitchen with fair prices which natives love. I've been the only non-Asian customer in Sakorn a few times now and it backs up my opinion that it's top-notch. The Phos (Asian soups with noodles) are to die for and my favourite is the Seafood broth with chunky noodles (and that's not just because it's bright pink). The Pad Thai is also a hit and the classic Chicken Soup is so comforting during these cold, winter days. Oh and the If you aren't already swayed to look past it's not-so-chic appearance, Sakorn has the most friendly staff I've ever come across. I love going there on a Friday for lunch after school with my friends but I feel more than comfortable going on my own when I fancy some Thai (which is always). Check it out :-) Happy Weekend!
