Do you remember when you were little and your parents would always try and make up stories about how vegetables have powers. For example “eat your broccoli or else you won’t grow to be big and tall.” They always made it seem like foods had magical super powers. Well guess what, they do! Such foods would also be known as “Superfoods.” The question is what are they really? Why are they called “Superfoods?” Although all foods have may nutrients, those with an extremely high content of phytonutrients are considered “Superfoods.” Phytonutrients help the body and cells communicate more efficiently. They are also natural chemicals found in plants that are essential for helping our bodies fight off disease and bacteria. Superfoods have an abundance of nutrients that are extremely beneficial to our body. They help improve ones overall health. Superfoods are a combination of foods and medicinal herbs. Not only do Superfoods nourish all of the systems in one’s body, but they also balance things out and create a healthier you. The difference between the nutrients you find in a regular fruit, or vegetable compared to those found in Superfoods, is, those found in Superfoods go more in depth as per their nutritional values.
