ATEEZ PERFUME REVIEW: BALMAIN — ÉBÈNE
disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review; this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents, but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.

my scent experience:
the fragrance opening is very woody and smokey from of course, the ebony wood and incense. I like that it not too deep of a woody scent that it hits you in the face which I really appreciate especially after testing out Bronze. as it settles, it's still woody but there's a floral element to it, definitely from the geranium. as the fragrance dries down, it's now this warm and slightly sweet scent — not a cupcake sweet but resinous sweet like tree sap. the best way to describe this scent is walking in a forest on an autumn day and coming across a tree with tree sap oozing out of it. this is definitely an autumn scent so if you like a nice warm woody fragrance, this one might work for you.
the projection was strong at first, but it becomes moderate as time goes on which is what I expected from this fragrance. the longevity is long, lasting about 9 hours on me which is something I've noticed about these Balmain fragrances as I'm testing them out. I like this one but it's definitely a seasonal fragrance for me and there has to be a particular time and place for me to wear this. and this isn't blind buy safe either so please test this one out before purchasing.
additional notes from me:
this fragrance is one of the four reinvented classics in the collection — the other three being Carbone, Ivoire, and Vent Vert. they described this as an intense woody scent but surprisingly, I didn't find this as intense as I anticipated. I think this is very wearable for anyone who likes woody scents, and I could see myself wearing this during the colder months. I like this scent, but I don't know if I would purchase a bottle for myself as woody fragrances tend to be a hit or miss on my skin. maybe in the distant future as I'm not desperate to have this in my collection but if someone gifted this to me, I would be absolutely excited to wear this all autumn.
who would I recommend this to?
anyone who likes woody fragrances.
those who want a specific fragrance for autumn/fall.
anyone who wants to try out Balmain fragrances.
if you've made it to the end, thank you for reading this review! while I do believe in wearing fragrances regardless of the time of day and/or season, this one felt like an autumnal fragrance. I hope you enjoyed reading this and let me know which fragrances you've been wanting to test out.
