ANKOMMEN UND WERDEN (2024, collage on postcards, set of 8) Paper Works

When a stop at the local thrift shop in a grey Hessian town yields a collection of postcards depicting high-rise buildings in what was once the Third-World (quite unusual) and a book on the painter Carl Spitzweg (always to be found), then something has to be done.

Weißt du, manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, wir müssten einfach alles daransetzen, das Leben als etwas Einzigartiges zu gestalten, indem wir das gleichförmige Einerlei unseres ach so drögen Alltags nicht länger als gegeben hinnehmen, sondern durch unvorhersehbare Taten in das Abenteuer zu entgrenzen, als welches unsere Kinderseele jeden Tag empfunden hat.

I wanted to do some kind of study, so I took Carl Spitzwegs „Blumenfreund“ (flower friend) and tried to draw Dorian in the same pose since I have the feeling I should draw more different kind of poses
