In a thousands of years, the term „human“ will only be known from fragmented archives. What remains lives on in altered form. Where the Valais stretches between rock, wind, and ancient water, beings exist that have emerged from the feminine—not as a sex, but as a principle.
These hermaphroditic beings bear no name in the modern sense.
Their bodies are soft and functional at the same time, free from binary attributions. Breasts, hips, shoulders—everything is there, but nothing serves as a boundary. Reproduction is no longer an individual act, but a collective, seasonal process, embedded in climate, lunar phase, and soil composition. Here, femininity is not an opposition, but a state of permanent receptivity.
Their skin has adapted to the light of the Alps. It reflects the cold green of the glacial remnants as well as the rusty red of the iron-rich soils around the Valais. Pigmentation changes with the seasons: in winter
paler, almost chalk-white, in summer warm, earthy, interwoven with mineral shades.
The beings wear masks—not out of ritual, but out of biology. Their faces have become sensitive, too open to wind, pollen, and electromagnetic currents. The masks, often animal-like, filter stimuli and protect the highly developed sensory organs. Horns, thorns, or rays don’t grow out of a need for decoration, but as antennae: they read pressure changes, avalanche movements, tectonic stresses.
