Ebola virus disease in resource-rich settings can range from mild disease to severe life threatening illness with organ failures. However, with aggressive supportive care and life support measures available in resource-rich settings (volume resuscitation, hemodialysis, and mechanical ventilation), death from Ebola virus disease should be much less common than in resource-poor settings. In our opinion, this report confirms that with adequate training, preparation, and adherence to safety protocols, renal replacement therapies can be provided safely and should be considered an appropriate and viable treatment option when providing advanced life support in patients with Ebola virus disease.”
