*Listening to a video about the Custodes and getting a terrible idea*

Having terribly fun ideas of sticking some Aquilan Shields with certain ocs and how much it would annoy one, the other, or both.

The idea of one being tasked with protecting Copernicus has me cackling. That man would ditch the Custode so many times but be equally surprised when they show back up. Unharmed. Eventually a begrudging respect develops between the two. Copernicus is highly confused by the more friendly respect they develop with his xenos companions/associates.

Oh boy, one would work well for my Rogue Trader(before the game came out) Inquisitor and the marry band she accidentally collects as she’s still trying to do inquisitorial things and other important and secretive ventures. The Custode will butt heads with the few Marines that come and go from her retinue.

It would have been interesting during the final battle if destroying those Elder sarcophagi would have done something.

Negatively(health damage, an ability becomes limited, etc.) and positively(desperation leads to more brash actions and more dangerous abilities) affecting the Avatars being deployed. Stunning, frenzying, or outright killing ADVENT units and perhaps the same for some of the alien units. Creating psionic energy hazards due to the sudden death and release of their potent psionic energy.

More actively seeing the damage leading to eventual collapse of the underwater base. Water leaks. Panels beginning to cave in. Pillars collapsing. Etc.

Actually thinking about it, I could see destroying some being a side objective to “balance” the playing field if more experimental and aggressive Avatars were deployed. After the first one is destroyed, the others get a bit of a shield you’ll have to chew through. To make things a little more fair, all take collective health damage when a sarcophagus is destroyed(including the Avatars.)

Also, potential death comments ranging from warnings of what is to come, disbelief of what is happening, more bargaining and making all sorts of offers(mainly to the Commander), and lots of long-winded cursing because they are sour prunes.

Think I’ll handle my Floaters/Archons as a mix of three things.

1. Some distant cousin species to the Mutons or one that took a different evolutionary path as I’m handling the Mutons being space fairing already before the Elders

2. A different species all together. Shaping them close to what is described in Chimera Squad in that “dreamscape” they get plugged into.

3. Hybridization of 1 and/or 2 like the human/alien hybrids. Thanks @dreadblades for that idea.

And with 1 and 2, I’d going to have them fair well against the Elders(or saw through their nonsense as I have a mix of ‘peaceful’ contact and straight up hyper hostile invasions for the Elders) before they lost and perhaps they managed to do major damaged that pissed the Elders off so much to explain their continual tortured existence via the Floaters to the Archons.

Getting flashbanged when I get likes on that old post about me “imagining Thin Men can still unhinge their jaws,” and now I’d love an x-ray image of a thin men to show how messed up their anatomy is 😭

Huh. Now I’m curious to what some of the initial concepts for the Alien Hunters DLC. Because there are a lot of elements that really imply it would have gone another way, but the team got rushed.

Stumbled across some of Vigaroe analysis articles again and jive with several of his interpretations and issues concerning the whole thing.

Have some nitpicks/disagreements, such as them bringing up the Hunter’s line about how rare it is for the Elders to offer up a planet. Knowing the Hunter’s creation period, I’ve never interpreted that as the Hunter has been serving the Elders for way over 20+ years. I’ve always assumed that the Chosen(and any more elite alien) knows the history of the Elders’ rule across the cosmos. And also, whatever lies the Elders have told about "empire" and how they operate.

I need to have both ADVENT born and non-ADVENT born people have some funky taste buds due to what foods and spices they grew up with(or lack of it) and how it shaped their palettes.

Remembering a story from a guy who pretty much grew up not eating a lot of sweets so nearly all chocolates taste nasty to him. Has to be a dark chocolate and usually a high percentage. And then he never had cinnamon so he literally can't taste the spice or taste it properly. Just gets to have fun with the hydrophobic nature of the spice and says it's weird.
