Hi. Been enjoying ur headcanons and had a thought.
It seems like DMC5 Vergil has forgotten tons of stuff from his childhood, yeah? What if he forgot his birthday.
You’d think the easy solution is learning Dante’s birthday, but what if they were born on different days? Which is an actual thing for some twins (im not a doctor I just know its A Thing).
So if Vergil ever brought up vaguely knowing when his birthday is, but not the specific date…do you think Dante would tell him the date, or use the assumption of a shared birthday to bring them that little bit closer? Personally, I don’t think Dante would do it at the end of the day, but I know people write/headcanon their own interpretations of Vergil&Dante differently and I love hearing other ppl add onto and warp my brainrot 7:D
Usually when it comes to twins being born on different days that's usually because of midnight hitting or new years so it's one day after the other. There is superfetation, but that is SOOO rare and they're probably just same day boys. Functionally, it would matter very little if one was born the day before or after if the birth was around midnight, because many twins ignore that because, well, close enough, right?
I think Dante wouldn't lie to Vergil. Dante is a very honest man, he just doesn't say a lot regarding himself. He talks a lot but says nothing at all. Misdirection and omission, but never lying outright.
Especially not to Vergil. He's lost Vergil again, and again, and again. As children. Temen-Ni-Gru. Mallet Island. V's very existence proved that Vergil is gone, not the brother he once knew, a warped creature wearing his brother's demonic scent. Vergil's ghost has always haunted him, even when he's not been dead. Trapped between life and death, agony, purgatory.
He couldn't lie to Vergil. Especially when he's forgotten. Dante would crack jokes about it, but upon realizing Vergil really forgot, he just gets quiet. Maybe a little awkward if anyone else is in the room- Could be Trish or Lady, Patty or Nero, anyone, he's never told anyone his birthday. Dodged the question. Didn't want to think about the day he'd always go so far away, to the home they lost so long ago, to the last time they've spent a birthday together. Sometimes being a menace in grief. Other times trying to fix the beyond destroyed house, so at least there's one small room with a not-horrific bed if Vergil found himself crawling back home from hell and needed a place to sleep just for a night.
He'd say it, and it would be that. A quick thank you.
Vergil has no plans for celebrating. It's just a day. Dante has to wonder how he's going to celebrate their next birthday. His brother is here, and safe, and alive, and maybe a bit worse for wear, but here. He'd have to talk about it... later.
Maybe a day or two in advance.
(Anyone who overheard is setting up their own plans, and marking their own grudges that Dante never told them his birthday himself)
