As I drove home at 5 am from imaging the eclipse this song came on in my car (yes I'm a super nerd and have the Apollo 13 soundtrack saved in my music lol) and it just seemed so appropriate. Enjoy!

Full of Stars

She puts every star she sees in her bag and it grows ever more colourful.

Her actions don’t darken the sky, as the stars aren’t real in the world outside: they’re mere figments of a malfunctioning brain, yet she still manages to collect them.

For the first time in 27 years, there’s a solar eclipse visible in her region, and she is out there as the summer evening is growing grey, her crocheted bag next to her in the grass.

Suddenly, her stars rise up out of her bag, leaving her meds and a packet of tissues behind on the bottom. People are complaining; surely this grey state should be maintained to honour the usual sunlight. But she can’t help it. She’s never been able to control these stars. They cluster together to take shapes, to tell stories like a drone light show, distracting everyone around from the eclipse. When her stars finally resolve in the sky, the light has returned to a regular evening’s brightness. The people around her vow to live another 55 years so they won’t miss the next solar eclipse equally visible in this place, but she makes a different wish: for these stars never to return to her, to never blind her again now that they’ve been released.
