ARTE Y ESPIRITUALIDAD
Site
Ephemeral yet stoic the site severs the city of new orleans to leak nothing but rife and tribulations. Cut off by massive concrete walls, the parishes fall into an abyss of non relevance. The walls herd the water droplets from river to lake and sea. An estuary full of life, as it seems, creates barriers and limits interaction.
Three interventions and a master plan are proposed.
At the mouth of the Industrial Canal and Lake Pontchartrain
At the edge of the Industrial canal near the Gulf
At the mouth of the IC as it meets the Mississippi River
Rivers as fields not hard-lined edges. They fluctuate over time. The ebb and flow and lead and follow. It is necessary to think about this area geologically. The water deposits... builds new land and sprawls into the Gulf. As it does that it also erodes along the way. Architecturally, I seek to embrace the power of water, weather and wind to situate the visitor in a moment in time along a trajectory of fluctuation.
